Question Can you kill someone if you catch them breaking into your car???

Ok, so as you can tell from the title of this thread, i was a little upset this morning when I came outside my apartment to find my passenger side window shattered in pieces. I was not the only car, they managed to smash about 30 other vehicles around my complex. Luckily, nothing was taken (i don't leave anything valuable in there) but still, I had a window to replace.
This happened to me once before a few years ago. i woke up in the middle of the night and ended up chasing a guy with a baseball bat 5 city blocks until he ran into an office building. The cops came out, separated me, and then went in after him. Honestly, I'm not sure what i would have done, maybe break his legs or something.
It upsets me though, because I've worked hard for what I have, and you can't have anything nice in society anymore because people have lost all respect. I guess i just don't want other people on this board to have the same thing happen to their cars, so if you have to park your car outside, keep alert, don't leave valuables in the car, and don't be afraid to fight back!

In most places, no. Unless you're inside your house, you have to reasonably think you're in imminent danger of being attacked with deadly force before you can respond with deadly force.

The law doesn't think a broken or stolen car is worth someone's life. As much as I love my car, I think the law is right about that.

Edit: And the OP is totally right about one thing... ferchrissakes, don't leave stuff visible in your car! That is why the vast majority of car break-ins happen... to steal piddly little **** on your seat that can be sold for the next hit.

Its rough out here, screw the damn law. These days, either you shoot, or the sticky fingered mu*****as will. I dont see why you shouldnt be able to kill anyhow, IMO breaking into someone's car is like breaking into someone's house! You would kill then, wouldnt you!?

Think i wont let that trigger go if someone even thinks about jackin me? You got me *****ed up!!!

I wouldnt even kill em if i could help it honestly. Instead i would ***** em up so bad, they would be begging the cops to take em away. Im talkin, so many holes that they look like a human sponge! Did it before and ill do it again if i have to!

It's easy, actually. If you catch someone breaking into your ride (and you happen to have a gun)...Pull out your heat on him!! If he makes ANY move TOWARDS you, shoot...His fingerprints will be all over your car...All you have to say is that he turned around and reached for what you thought was a gun, so in self defense you shot him. That said, be careful because the forensic stuff is a lot better now than it used to be....Final point. PLEASE don't ever think of shooting someone unless you think you are in life-threatening danger (and I would think that if I caught someone breaking into my car...unless he ran off, a shot in his back won't fly with the cops...) But if you happen to catch ANYONE breaking into your car, pull that gun on their ass! But remember, if you pull a gun, you had better be prepared to kill if need be. Coming from a guy whose brother and dad are cops, I know what the laws are and what will get you arrested and what is considered self-defense. I have had my truck broken in to twice (left GPS and ipod plugged in) in my OWN DRIVEWAY! And I live in a nice neighborhood....Since then I have installed a halogen motion light, and a motion-detection alarm that covers the driveway.

I never done that dollarbill but I am guessing you from the N.O. area?

I have chased somebody coming back from school after leaving a bus, smashed my brother's car window and took off, Chased him 5 miles in the 4 banger. Had 911, and told them I have a gun and when I get a clean shoot you might want to bring a body bag. 3 cop cars came, arrested him and searchced me for weapons which I didn't have. I guess the person is lucky though, last line of defense would have been ramming his ass into the wall that was coming up.

Don't complain about life, if you do, try death, nobody has complained yet.

You can never have nice things any time during the past because this was always an issue. I think more so now becuase of the economy and over population of the earth too. So shooting one or two you are doing a service to mother nature.

Alot of it probably has to do with your state laws. Hell, in some states you can shoot someone in the back on your own property if you felt threatened, even if they were leaving. People get caught breaking into **** around here have a whole neighborhood of guns on them.

That's the way it is here. "Castle Doctrine" is a most interesting law for property and business owners. Almost as good as living in Texas.

exactly. you want something of mine that bad....come fight me for it, man to man. don't sneak around while I am away/asleep like the coward you are...i fcuking hate thieves...having my truck broken into twice made me sick to the point I actually considered "baiting" them and having my brother (cop) there to nail the bastards...alas, i didn't as the same thieves rarely strike twice in the same neighborhood, and i wasn't going to sit up waiting every night...so i got the brightest motion light in the world...

I would have to say most thieves are on parole and they won't go to the police and tell them why they got a beating or shot. So go ahead and pistol whip the MFer and give him a good beating.

Why would they want to get themselves in trouble? Free food? Free Shelter? Free boy-freind? Oh yea... that's right, we pay taxes to keep these guys alive in a cage. I get what your saying.
