Radar going crazy...

Does any one else's radar detector go nuts when approaching or driving around any new AUDI? It seems to be around the A8 and nicer models like that. Always does it to me. Do they have some kind of device in their cars that make my radar go off? I have a brand new cobra radar detector, not the best but definitely works for $175.00.

Ah hah! You might be right.. It drives me crazy when I'm on the highway for a couple miles and one is driving next to me or any where around me, because my radar will not SHUT UP! ha. I wonder if that throws off police radars? I don't think that would be legal.. But, who knows!

My V1 goes nuts on the Laser setting when any Infiniti approaches me. That is becuase the Infiniti's, from what I have been told, use laser to help them with their cruise control function and it is on all the time regardless if cruise control is engaged or not.

perhaps it could be the same with the Audi?

The newer high end Mercedes make my V1 go crazy too. Also, the brake lights on Chevy Trailblazers set off my laser warning. Go figure.

^^ perhaps, but I don't get that with either the Trailblazers or any Chevy product with this feature.

its the blind spot monitoring detection systems. They use K band radar which will set off your V1 for sure. Also infiniti's have the Laser guided cruise control which will set off your V1 as well.

I hoping Mike Valentine can create a software update getting rid of those K band false alerts!

Yes, really annoying. I so completely hate the nanny devices they are installing on newer cars. And my guess is they still won't stop some people from doing really stupid things....

Its all new the new Audi, MB, and BMWs.

I haven't figure out if its the blind spot monitoring or the pre-colission sensors. Annoying as ****. I used to hate the Infinity's with the laser based cruise control that set off my laser, but now these new German car's radar is annoying as all hell.

Wait!, why do you need a radar detector? You're not planning on exceeding the speed limit are you?

Whenever I silence a noise my car is making, another one, that was masked by the first becomes apparent. The only universal repair is to dramatically increase the volume of the radio, purchasing a good aftermarket subwoofer and amp if your car also suffers from as yet undiagnosed clunks or vibrations.

This is why I don't use Radars. A nice little app for the road trips works out nicely telling me where all the cop sitting points are. And if I want to know if there is a cop at those points the CB works perfectly fine in asking traffic if a cop is sitting there.

Waze is prolly the best one out right now. Lots of users, not to mention it has voice guided navigation built in.

Trapster is another.
