Your most annoying "let's race" story

First: I do NOT street race. On occasion, I will goose the G8 at a light, but that's about it. 25 plus years of driving with not tickets, you get my point.

Lately as I drive around the DFW area, I have noticed a lot of "Hey, let's race the old dude in the G8" activity. What surprises me the most is the caliber of car & driver that wants to "kill" the G8. I am convinced most of these people have no clue what the G8 is. All they see in my car is a big silver sedan being driven by a middle aged bald guy.

As always, it's kids in Honda Civics, and Hondas in general (usually early 2000's Accords), but the Kia crowd is getting rowdy too. I have had Scions want to race, and even a kid in a Hyundai Accent with a massive fart can. What's the deal with these guys? Just the other day, a kid in a mid 90s Mercedes coupe (E series) thought he was Lewis Hammilton and almost ran me off the road.

What about your town?

Gotta be the fender strikes and black wheels enticing them...maybe the rumble if the exhaust too.

I don't mess with the kids around here not worth the trouble. Did have a guy in a dodge pickup with a hemi get me to bite last week on the way to work. It was fun for me not so much for him I think.

I had this happen an hour ago. A guy in a slammed/fart can early 90s accord kept trying to trace. I was winning without even going archive 4k. Then always let off before getting too fast. The last time i threw it in sport mode and gave it. Smoked him bad. Went from 40-85 and he was so far behind looked like he was not even racing. Then he never did catch back up even when i was doing 5 under. He tyrned in the next gas station.

I found that since I installed my long tube headers with no cats and custom exhaust with Solo axle backs that all I need to do is rev the engine once or twice and they plant their tails firmly between their legs and won't make eye contact any more.

I'm crying reading this.............frick'in funny as. At least the rice boys down under know their place. That said, if someone in new Nissan GTR wanted to go for a run, that'd be interesting.

Yeah, no point in beating them, since all you'll do is beat a POS kia, hyandai, or honda ricer wannabe thats not worth the gas. Just open up that exhaust on them and that should quiet them down.

I have to admit that when I was a teenie I wanted to race everyone too. It wasn't that I could beat them, it was just to hear their car takeoff.
Now that I am older, it just isn't worth it. I am not going to jeopardize my license just to show a kid how awesome my car is.
A rev or slight goose of the throttle never hurt anyone though.

I don't ever street race. But it seems that I always have some hill jack in a lifted power joke F350 or yellow hemi ram with a wing off the back go flying by me. Dbags in big trucks always try to show off. Just cause its a Hemi Daytona yellow truck does not mean the streets are a NASCAR track.

I had a kia forte koup try to play with me, I kept up with him using half throttle and still having to peddle it in order to avoid crashing into his rear bumper.

Best story I had is when I had my Trailblazer SS last year. A V6 Challenger kept pacing me on the highway and I didn't go until it was completely clear. So we slowed down and we went and he fell behind so quickly..lol. I slowed down to laugh at him and he pulled out his badge and waved it at me. I guess he thought waving a badge would think twice about beating him.

After racing became a felony in Texas when the "Fast & Furious" idiots started killing each other 10 years ago, my occasional random street race on the way to work has died down to nothing.
