You may want to hold off on booking rooms yet. I will be in touch with the hotel on Wednesday to arrange for a competitive group rate, and will post the code.

I do want to also mention that I would like G.O.N.E. to become a rotating location event so that as many people can attend as possible. The move to Texas in 2014 is being made possible because some great folks from Texas have stepped up to handle the local logistics, and to handle prep that I just can't do from so far away. These folks have also driven extensively all 3 years of G.O.N.E. to join us (with both G8s!), and have been of great assistance at the event itself. They've earned the right to a shorter haul for once. Ideally I'd like to see future events happening that might be farther east and west possibly. I would prefer to avoid a national event on either coast because it will just be too far away for folks to drive from the opposite coast. An eastern event closer to the Allegheny Mtns and a western event closer to the Rocky Mtns could work. For that to happen, there need to be volunteer(s) who will be the "local hosts" who can handle alot of the prep. If you are willing to take that on in future years, drop me a PM.

For Texas in 2014, howzabout scheduling the meet for Austin close to the dates when Holden will be racing at the fabulous new track there, assuming they return from this year? I don't know what the dates would be for 2014, but this year I think it's earlier than Sept/Oct. Just a thought ... and maybe worth asking if we could have our own HPDE, perhaps inviting late model GTOs and new Chevy SS owners as well, maybe with a little factory support from Holden to keep costs reasonable. The worst that can happen is that Holden, the track, or both say no.

Just a thought.

Snowbird who flew in a G8 GT.

2003 RS 6 & 2009 G8 GT. Gone now but sweet memories remain. The G8 was best car I've owned.

SOON-to-CANCEL ORDER: 2016 Chevy SS, 6 spd manny tranny, Some Like it Hot red, sunroof, full sized spare. Contact Mark Gamber at Palm Chevrolet in Punta Gorda, FL if you are interested in this car. It should be gorgeous!

Since the V8 Supercar Series event is held in May, and since everyone within a few hours of Austin will be jacking up their rates for the event, it has been decided to avoid this conflict. The 2014 event will likely be in later Sept/early Oct so that weather is less hot, but still not cold. We may still have an HPDE or equivalent, but it won't be the same weekend. Financial support from aftermarket manufacturers is much more likely than factory support unfortunately, and even that is tough to come by.

Might I suggest the Moonshiner 28, to the Tail of the Dragon, to the Cherohala Skyway.

If you're thinking of a more direct route... there's always The Snake!

Yes. Yes you may. Sad thing is, I've known about Tail of the Dragon for a few years, but I've never been. I'll have to give it a try.

I've thought about PMing you for some tips about how you put your trip together. Seems I should...

Ok folks,

I know in past years we have talked about how we would like to have a track day event for the G.O.N.E meet. I was looking on the Blackhawk Farms Raceway site tonight, and they have a Track Day scheduled on September 18th, which is Wednesday. I don't know who is hosting it, right now registration is $225.

I haven't had a chance to tell Joe about this yet, and I don't know how many people would be interested, but I think it would worth it to discuss it. Of course, it means adding two days to the event for most people and then we have to find something to do on Thursday for those who would come for the track day. Thoughts?

OldSkoolG8 -- please DO PM BracketRacer with details on what you stated above, is this like a road course event or??

I am running the official g8gone.com website yet again this year, and am in the process of updating it to the 2013 year event information. If it works out that BracketRacer can integrate the track event that you discuss above, then that would possibly be awesome!
