I guess if you get lucky and can find a wrecked/heavily damaged G8 (in areas other than the front end), maybe you can score a good price for both of those items. If not, I see the P/N's listed for those 2 parts can be had from several GM sources. If one of those sources just happens to be close to where you live, you could at least save several bucks on the shipping charges. The energy absorber # 92201784 goes for about $138 and the deflector #92201783 goes for about $ 316. Man that's a lot of money for a flimsy piece of plastic.
I once made my own front bumper absorber on a Saab. I took a huge chunk of styrofoam I had found in a dumpster at the back of a furniture store. Carved out to match area and fit, taped it up with duct tape. It was two separate pieces, but it was in there when I sold it ! Its for minor bumper impacts , so.......
