My sunroof will open randomly on it's on. If I play with the switch(rotary)and turn it to the perfect sweet spot, the sunroof will return to the home position. Also I have have water soaked in my passenger rear floorboard and all others are damp to the touch. Please any info. I tried searching but their are Years of info with no solution or fix.
If I'm reading this correctly, it sounds like your control knob/switch is somewhat flaky. From memory, the 08's an maybe some of the early 09's, came with a switch function that was "rotate to the position desired, an the glass went there". All the later made cars came with the type that I have. Which is, rotate to the position desired. Then push an hold until the glass has reached that selected position. If you feel that its the rotatory switch at fault (an can not be fixed), it appears they only sell the later version of that panel if needed. Can't tell you *if* its a direct replacement however. If you feel it has to be replaced, maybe you can find a good used OEM version. But if you have to replace it with the current version available, they show a P/N of 92223695 is used for all models an years at the cost of about $ 325
Those cars (that came with oem sun roofs), were supplied with drain lines down the A pillar for the forward end, an in the rear, down the C pillar. A plugged or broken drain line, is pretty much a given, that carpet flooding will happen, in my opinion.
Thank you so much. Yes I do have the rotary switch that you rotate to and the glass automatically opens to that position. I'll try to find a used one before I shove out that much money for a switch. As far as the drain tubes for the sunroof. Should I drop the roof liners also?
There have been a few members who had developed various levels of damp carpeting from messed up drain lines. I want to say, it seemed like it was always the forward line(s) causing the problem (but not positive). Never heard any of them dropping the headliner as part of the fix involved. At sometime when you have the glass back, you should be able to check the forward drains visually (for any obvious blockage as well as possibly finding a way to safely pour some water down the drain(s) to see if any water wants to flow into the cabin instead of out thru the water drain to the outside of the car. If the hard lines (which convert to flex lines going down the pillar) collapse or separate, the water pretty much has to dump into the cabin area. If you have trouble locating the forward drains, I'll try to post up as best as I can, on where to look an what it might look like.
OK!!!! Finally got time to track the water leak. Found the driver rear sunroof drain tube disconnect. I spread a lil silicone around the rubber hose coming out the sunroof and reinserted it into the hard line. Let it set for 30 minutes and poured water over the sunroof and no more leaks inside! Water drained out right behind the tire as it should. THANKS EVERYONE!!!
