So ... if you bought them and never installed them, does that mean you purchased them used as well? If so, how many miles are on them from the previous owner? I might be interested!

yes I bought them used, if I remember right I was told 4-5k miles, maybe less?

I didnt install because I had some other mods in the back of my mind and wanted to get the tune cleaned up when they were all done.

Rookie question - Do I need a tune to run these? I currently have a Cortex so can't tune for HFC's, but will it work, and will I realize any benefit?

I just put in a set this past weekend. Currently have them matted to a solo Mach catback and am just running off a cortex tune. Solo states that a full tune isn't required. While it will undoubtedly help in gaining full potential from the added flow it isn't required.

Many say DO NOT run a cortex tune with solo hfc's because the cortex is already a very lean tune, then including adding the hfc cats, or headers too its recommended to go back to the stock tune, or a custom tune.

Hopefully others will chime in on this but ive read this countless times.

Yes, I've datalogged with HFC's and Cortex way back in my solo beta test mode, there's a reason the warrantee leagaleze for Superchips Cortex says that they WILL NOT validate a warrantee claim if the car had Headers or High Flow Cat Converters. The car can run dangerously lean in this combination.

either run 100% stock tune with the O2 extenders or step up to a big boy tune that can adjust the different airflow and fueling requirements of HFC's/and/or/headers.

OP, GLWS!
