I saw your thread where you were parting out. Pardon my ignorance, but why go through the time and expense of building a custom TT only to go through the time and aggravation of going back to stock? Selling the car I presume?

I'd guess at this point there aren't any GXPs over 600. I could be wrong, don't keep good track of the other board.

IMO there might be a couple reasons, GXP guys might want to maintain the car's value and after spending a little more than the GT limit their mods. GT owners on the other hand... Have a little more fun!

I am close at 549 at the rear wheels. Track at Watkins Glen so I need this kind of HP to keep up with the lighter cars.

That is an interesting perspective. Makes a lot of sense. The GTers out there do seem to go buck wild with the mods. Myself included of course

I don't have an official dyno... but judging by what Louie made, and what psi I'm running, and taking into account I have an aftermarket cam, vs. Louie on a stock cam, I bet I'm easily 650+ rwhp.

Mods in sig.

I'm confused - how could you be pushing that much power and have all those mods and not have been dyno-tuned? Wouldn't those mods require you to run a custom dyno map???

You do not need a dyno to tune. Many racers tune at the track.

Seriously?

I don't get "dyno tunes."

My car gets tuned on the street....

Correct i do 99% of tuning on the street i put cars on dynos to see what kinda power they make and where they are at. Most all the time from a "street" tune to a "dyno" tune i see little to no gain, if there is a gain it's in the 5-8hp range.

My personal G8 was always street tuned.

You do it yourself? I guess mine had both, whenever I went to the tuner he would do the initial tune on the dyno then tighten it up after the fact on the street driving around, so I guess I see what you mean...if it was me I'd just ask to throw it on the dyno for the heck of it to see where it was at.

Alright then..... what is the benefit of a street tune vs. a dyno tune outside of the hp? Better yet, are there any specific pros and cons?

I always believe in a street tune since you do 99% of your driving there correct? Some dynos are loaded some are not so i see the street and track being the best places to "dial in" a car. Plus with street tunes you can dial in all the shifts on auto cars and driveablity on stick/auto cars also.
