I will probably be switching over my tune from Vector Motorports over to Rick Crawford. One of the things I was going to ask for is DOD to be enabled only in normal mode and not in Sport mode. What cool options have others had done for the TCM tuning? Maybe we could put a list together so other people can know what available.
I agree 100%. If I were able to login and see what kind of options were available without paying for a membership and then paying for the actual tune I'd be ok with it. Rick Crawford and Patrick G are known quantities, not to say that other tuners out there don't have the same or even higher level of skill. Because of all the testimonials on the site, I feel more comfortable with them given the amount of money being spent regardless of who does the tuning.
It's just a little difficult to find the TCM tuning options available through searching and would be nice to see what things people have done in one place.
I have an ECM and TCM tune from Diablew using the inTune. I had Diablew make the sport mode shifting more aggressive on downshifting so that it doesn't take as much throttle to make the trans go to a lower gear. Made the car much more responsive and fun.
Uplift is unchanged from regular Sport mode. The problem I found with the regular Sport shift was that when I gave it enough gas to make it downshift, it would sometimes downshift then immediately upshift to the gear I was just in before downshifting again. It was like it couldn't quite make up its mind at first. Now its is perfect.
No downsides other than less gas mileage but that's because I want to hammer it all the time. :wink3:
You can not have DoD enabled based on Transmission mode. It is either enabled or disabled by a master switch on the engine side. Trans side is shift speeds and firmness, torque convertor lock up controls, torque management, etc...
I believe that you can download and play with a trial version of HP Tuners without a license. You just won't be able to flash anything.
I assumed it was possible to have DoD active for Normal mode and off for Sport mode since DoD is turned off when going from Sport mode to Manual mode. Maybe the switches for the shift lever somehow signal the ECM.
Going to manual mode generally unlocks the convertor and drops a gear. That would throw the motor out of the parameters needed for DoD to be active. I don't recall ever trying it, but I would imagine that if you switched to manual mode on the highway, then upshifted to 6th, eased up on the throttle, and let the convertor lock, DoD would still work. There are no transmission side controls for the DoD in the tune. Its all based off of vaccuum (load) and throttle position on the engine side. And a master enable/disable switch.
