VMS giving me the shaft?

I bought a VMS powercal cable from someone and of course I know they are vin locked. I Called VMS to see about getting it unlocked and also buying a tune... $175 to unlock and 350 for the tune? Ive seen people on here saying they only charge 75 to unlock the vin? Hmm

Could you possibly be confusing it with the $75 transfer fee for tunes. I.e. I bought a car with a VMS tune and they said the transfer fee to do any updates was $75. Just a thought

The car is stock and I just need the cable unlocked and the guy at vector said it was 175$. Many people on the board are saying they've had theirs unlocked by VMS for only 75 bucks if you buy a tune from them which i plan on doing.

Wow, whats the point of buying a used cable then when a new one is $250. I'm trying to sell my used VMS cable but if this $175 reprogram fee is true then i may as well just give it away for free.

Reprogram fee is $75. I don't think they will unlock it though, just reprogram for the new VIN.

Yeah I've always heard $75 to reprogram and $75 to transfer. I think you either said the wrong thing or they quoted you the wrong thing. Call back. Or send a PM on the forum.

+1 on the call before you buy.... and also +1 on call them/ or send them a email and ask for the price again... could be a misunderstanding... and for sure they wont just unlock it.... It is also possible they raised their price... good luck

VMS is a great company to deal with. I'm sure whatever they are charging is in line with the industry norm. For what you get from them it's a deal and double the price.

If that's the case, I have a cable here I'll sell you for $200...much less than double the price.

LOL! I've never had issues with VMS but I'm starting to wonder if the grass might be greener with another tuner...lots of cables for sale...

The price to clear the vin from an already vin locked cable is 75.00, the tune transfer is 175.00 maybe thats where the 175.00 price came from? if someone quoted you 175.00 im sorry for the mix up but I hope this helps

So just to be clear, if someone buys my cable, they would pay $75 to reprogram the unit to their vin and $175 to get unlimited email tunes from VMS? Is that corect?

Thanks to Steve and the secretary at Vector we got it all straightened out. Should have my tune in a couple days. It was 75 bucks to Unlock and 350 for the tune because there was no tune to transfer since the car is on the stock tune now. The misunderstanding was, its 75 to unlock and 175 to transfer the tune as Steve stated above.

Got my tune put on the other day. WOW what a difference. WOT is just crazy with the transmission tune. 1 Happy VMS customer here. While I was cruising down 75 testing the tune i caught pretty big rock to the lower grill. Looks like ill need a new one. Just My Luck!
