08 GT, Idle question and AFM question

I am new to the G8 and have noticed that that at idle it feels like the engine has a miss but I have no CEL on.

How can I get the AFM to not be so sensitive? I want it to stay engaged when driving normal, it seems like it is only engaged when I am slowing down but when I touch the gas it comes out. I want to take more advantage of that system.

Thats it for right now

Thanks
Albert

Albert. Congrats on the G8!.
The "miss" that you refer to is very normal. If the ECU senses a real miss, you will pull a check engine light.

As to your AFM question, I have tried a few times to improve my tune in this area. It is very difficult to get it to stay "in" longer and still retain good driveability, but a good tuner can make small changes to improve the feel. A tune (not handheld) is the only way to change parameters of AFM.

Again, Welcome!

Thank you Todd, what is the average price to have it tuned? And what's a good place to go? I just found out a place called Redline motorsports I think, is good with these cars.
Thanks again

Where are you located Albert? If your around Michigan theres a few reputable places you could go to. Tunes can run as low as $250 and up to $450-$500. With the addition of a CAI (Read through the numerous threads, I personally went with the Roto-Fab due to build quality) and a tune, the car will feel much much different. As well, you will see some nice gains!

Start with checking the plugs. Mine had a rough idle when NEW. Re-gapped all to .040 and it smoothed out. Only the occational hick-up now.
They might not even be the original Iridium plugs in there. Worth a check
before spending any money.

I think you have several good shops in your neck of the woods.
Along with redline, Lashway is another to look at. Check reviews.
Price depends on what you get. I have 600 into my tune, but I have a laptop interface to log stuff and check parameters.
Some questions for the tuner: what is the cost for a re-tune if more mods are added? Is the tune locked (not desirable if you need to change it eventually)? Will the tune be dyno only, or also include part throttle drivability tune? Will they supply before and after dyno graphs? and is the trans tune included?
If all of that is a yes, you can expect to shell out about $500. Best money spent on the car.

Thanks Todd, that's good advice to someone new to the tuning era. For $400.00ish it does include the intake, a 160 t-stat motor and tranny tune , he said if after I get headers and cat back it will be a couple hundred more for a retune.
