08 G8GT, stock with a tune 13.30 @105

Took my car to the track today and managed two 1/4 mile runs. The first was 13.30, but I didn't get a MPH printed on the slip for some reason.

Made my second pass in the left lane, 13.32 @ 105.12.

I'm very happy with the car. The tune is something a friend of mine with HP Tuners did. I haven't messed with HP Tuners enough to really know how he added timing and reduced some of the torque management; but what he did made the car significantly faster. The car had been a best of 13.9 @ 102 when it was completely stock. 3 MPH and 6 tenths from the tune, I am very happy with those results!

I think the next mod I do for the car will be getting it ready to use E85. I'll have to do some research on what it takes to put an ethanol sensor on these and then straighten out the computer side of using E85. I'd love to be able to put in E85 when it was available, make use of the additional timing that is available, and then have the ECM auto correct fueling and timing based on whatever mish mash of 93 octane and E85 winds up in the tank.

That is excellent! A 13.30 on a tune is quite respectable, and 13.8-13.9 is what 95% of them ran off the showroom floor.

That's exactly what it ran before the tune - 13.9 @ 102.

Nice results. Your 60' time looks good. Add a few more mods like intake and headers and you should easily see 12's.

2009.5 SBM GT: Lots of show with some go.
The garage queen.

2008 IOM GT: Some go, working on the show.
The daily driver.

2004 Blazer Xtreme: Lots of go.
Sold and will be missed.

I leave it in D, it shifts from 3-4 about 100 feet before the finish line. The shift takes FOREVER so it's probably leaving a little on the table.

2.0 is pretty atrocious in my opinion, but that's about as fast as the car will do it without some more mods. I can just floor it and the car doesn't spin, just flashes the converter a little and goes. I can come up against the converter, floor it, and the car doesn't spin; the car just goes the same 2.0 no matter what it seems like.

I have done the flex fuel sensor since my last track trip, and resolved the transmission burble I was having at the top of first and second. With those two things, I think the car may dip into the 12's the way it sits right now. Only one way to find out though!

Are you running any kind of drag tire? If so then yeah I'd agree the 60' is slow. Gotta hit the track again and let us know how it goes. Good luck.

Nah, it's on wore out Michelin's. It's still not traction limited though, it just sticks and goes at the track. It won't hardly hook at all on the street; I can spin them through all of first, all of second, and into third on the street if I want to. Even if I ask it to hook on the street, it still spins pretty bad in first gear. At the track though, it just sticks it. The smooth surface and a bit of prep makes all the difference.

The biggest thing holding it back from 60 footing worth a damn is the stock converter. I'd be surprised if anyone was going sub 1.90 on the stock converter with a stock car. More power would obviously help, less weight would help, more gear would help, or more converter would help. With all that stuff stock, I just can't see the car going much faster than a mid 1.9 regardless of tire.
