So i recently just bought my dream car! Pontiac gt g8 with a V8! Im in love with this car! Has about 48000 miles on it but just today i noticed my oil gauge needle jumps like crazy! When i step on the gas it passes 75. I dont know what the problem could be. I have the 3 little needle gauges for the battery coolant and oil. Any help would be appreciated!
Yes. The 2008's came with "Atari" gauges; the 2009's came with a black space with no gauges at all.
Anyway, your concern could be nothing to worry about. Does it only do it at full throttle? Does it stay up or does it actually move around erratically? If it remains constant when under WOT, then I wouldn't worry about it.
Is there a way to remove this thing then lol? Its really going to annoy me to say the least. I have a 2009. And on full throttle or just giving it gas the needle goes all the way up. Upon letting go it goes back to normal and sometimes just jumps/jitters around.
Definitely aftermarket. The problem is you don't have the piece that really goes there. That pod was probably expensive and you could probably find someone willing to trade you if you really don't like it.
So this car in general doesnt have any gauges? You would have to get them installed like this one??? How would i go about getting the life on the battery etc... If i didnt have one of these. And where is this oil pressure sending unit??? And i just found the after marketpart online. It was about 1200.....
the sender is either down on the oil pan above the oil filter , or its up top behind the intake manifold
the batt life is subjective , in the secret menu you can see its percentage , push and hold the left scroll wheel on the steering wheel and turn the car on
the batt is in the left rear of the trunk behind the carpet
09's did not have anything other than whats in the secret menu , and on the cluster infront of the driver
So go figure today i started up my gt and i have a tire fault? What is that and can i reset it?? My tires seem fine i tested them with my tire device and i have 39 in front and 42 in back. I just cant figure out how to get rid of this annoying light
Go through engineering mode or the trip computer and see what tire is the culprit. My guess it will read super high. Sign of a sensor battery going bad usually. It will stay until replaced.
Actually it reads super low. Its the rear right side tire. It reads 22 psi every other tire is fine. I tried to reset the pressure by pressing the unlock and lock together and letting a little air out of every tire but now i get a tire fault error and i have 2 dashes where the psi numbers should be. Any ideas?
My money is on the sensor in the tire. Discount Tire if you have location my be your least expensive option. They read funny when the batteries in them get low. They have a life of about 5-7 years from what I have read and experienced.
