Rotor question

I was thinking to replace my stock rotors with slotted and drilled ones. I have heard the slotted rotors wear down the pads quicker. True?

The slots at like a knife edge to clean the pads surface to keep them from glazing. So yes the slots do remove a little pad material but very little. That said I have slotted and drilled rotors and I haven't noticed any horribly increased pad were.

I have slotted, no noticeably increased wear.

I wouldn't run drilled ones if you are going to road course the car; from what I've heard, cracks propagate from the holes.

2009 Hot White G8 GT, CTS-V v1 fronts, Camaro 20's, BMR Sways, Eibach Springs, Rear Cradle bushings. GXP FE3's, BMR rear susp. Kooks 1 7/8 LT headers, RCR custom 3 exhaust, ported LSA blower, 2.38 pulley; Ported heads and TB; LS7 MAF, Racetec pistons, Scat rods, CTS-V crank; FAST 85 injectors; RCR Lunati cam: 219/237 .612/.601, 114 +2 LSA. CTS-V pump/VaporWorx cntlr. Built trans, Methanol injection. Rick Crawford built and tuned. Best 1/4 9.68 @142, 1.42 60'.

I saw some ebay ads for drilled and slotted rotors for the g8's. They are selling a set of 4with pads for under 180 bucks! Its a no-name brand but are custom manufactured and coated from what they claim.

To me, that seems to cheap to be quality. Remember you get what you pay for. I wouldn't go too cheap on something like brakes.

So far I've only had to do my rears and I went with centrics. They are smooth ,no slots and had heard the same about the drilled ones cracking but maybe that's a quality thing. I read that unless your gonna track it to do need slotted ones . Centrics have been good to me so far. Very little if any break dust on my rims and breaks fine. I don't track mine but may do some spirited driving as they say . People like to go hawk and they will cost you more . I'm probably gonna go centric again for my fronts .

I'm running a drilled/slotted DBA setup with Hawk ceramic pads.
No negative issues.

things are not as they appear to be.........
