A good quality tape and pull the tape edge up and away as you remove it.

Hmm... Usually folks are doing accessory items, wheels, or trim...something with texture. Not saying it cant be done, but definitely a challenge. If there is any wax on the car I dont know how it would possibly adhere?

The only best and neat way to have a perfect line it to pull tape as soon as u spray it. As soon as it dries it forms the seal to the tape and cutting is not best way.

I don't think wax is an issue but there can't be any type of grease on the paint. It won't adhere properly.

Edges are hard, best way is to spray fast and peal once you have a solid build up. This is how I did my front bumper and it turned out great. Razor blades can cause a lot of damage if you aren't careful.

Check out http://www.youtube.com/user/DipYourCarcom for more insight, this guy has pretty much dipped everything automotive wise.

People are doing whole cars with it now, at a car show there was a guy handing out plastidip cards, he has made a business of it.

When i spray heavy coatings on boats the key is to remove the tape when its wet. Mask your surface off and leave the tape that is going up against the dip for last this way you can pull it and not have to deal with the rest of the masking potentially falling into your work. Use quality tape too

I agree if you can take the tape off while the Plasti-dip is wet, that's the best way to do it. But......I typically do 3-4 coats of the stuff and let it dry 20-30 min between coats. So I normally just use the razor blade. But it's true, you have to be very careful as to not scar the paint in the process.

I guess if you just did one initial really heavy coat and then immediately took the tape off that would work, as long as you didn't miss any spots.

+1

My Plasti Dipped front grill looks like I sprayed it yesterday. I did it 3 years ago and it has survived many a hot summer in Dallas.
