So, if I'm not going with the trunk subs does it make sense to upgrade the OEM deck subs or just leave them alone? I know you may not have personal experience with it but anyone's advice is appreciated!

Jackalope and I used a 10W 6ohm resistor wired on the positive side of the harness. The positive is the orange wire on the center speaker. I picked this type resistor as there is a thread on this forum for center speaker resistor mod. In the thread this mod was used for the OEM speaker and not an aftermarket speaker. I was talking with another member on the board and he is using the Infinity 32.9cf as his center speaker. The difference in his resistor is that he is using a 15W 5ohm. I could not find a resistor in this wattage in my area. I may order this resistor as I still here a little too much in the center.

As for where to buy them. I have a electronics store near me that sells these items. I tried Radio Shack and Best Buy and neither carried resistors in these sizes. I would say to all that are looking to do the resistor mod. If you don't have a good electronics store near you, then go online and order the resistor.

As for the speakers, the 62.9s and the 32.9 have greatly improved the sound quality of the stereo. I should of replaced these speakers years ago. Whether you want to use the Infinitys or go with another brand. Replacing the speakers in the car will be an improvement that you will not regret. And for anyone wanting to know the ohms of the speakers. The factory doors are 2ohms and the center a 4ohms.

Sorry about the long delay. I'm usually "in tune" with new posts. Been working on the "hack my visor up for fun mod" tonight.

**Oh wait...lol...I just noticed that "long delay" was THREE minutes ago! hahaha

hey if u do end up putting in full fledged subs in the car i would suggest using an alpine mono amp that has built in line in/out connectors so u can tap in directly to the rear deck subs wiring its a perfect application for our cars

Google Shopping search does not yield a $66.49 price?

By full fledged do you mean boxed subs in the trunk? I might go that way in the future but for now I need all the real estate I have in the trunk. I would mind powering the deck subs if that would make a difference...

Thanks for the advice guys, just ordered 4 kappa 62.9's from a place that only charged 66 per pair and free shipping!! I'm gonna swap the center speaker out after i do the doors and sort out my sub issues. right now i am thinking of just using a 10" SAS i have and old RF 360.2 amp.. The SAS i have has an old Orion 2NTense sub in it.. that speaker is a monster.

G8'less for now!!

I kinda like all my space too. Ideally I could keep all the space, have a full size spare AND have decent power to a sub or two. Something to make the wife and kids whine but not to necessarily win any spl or fidelity contests.

Ahhh, I see yet another member found "that thing". Awesome.

yeah like my setup, well i guess the next best thing is free to air to replace the stock subs in the same spots lol but theres one more option shallow subs or sub instead of having a huge box like me you could easily fab up a box and u only need 8inches deep

The website that I am about to buy the 62.9's from states that tweeter control on the 62.9's is a twist of the tweeter and on the 63.9's is the push of a button. Can someone confirm that the 62.9's is what I need and not the 63.9's? I don't mind paying more if it's a better speaker.

I have kicked around the idea of trying to make a snail shell box to attach to the bottom side of the rear deck to help the rear subs give a little more punch without losing much trunk space.
no there is no spot for tweeters in the rear and it's a waste to custom install one. and I second looking on amazon or ebay over crutchfield. Sonixelectronic is cheap too and you can most of the wiring there for a good price as well.

sound is personal preference. Infinitiys are a great speaker but the highs are a little harsh for some, but not for others. Ohms do not really matter if you replace everything and disconnect or replace the center speaker.

same here except mine are 10's and factory subs left in place. but mine are in a big box and take up some room. still can get the golf bag in though and that's all that matters

leave them alone. you can even leave the stock amp connected. The best thing to do would be to dynamat the lid though.

Can anyone recommend a set of component speakers for the front doors/tweeters. Preferably a set that doesn't require any extensive modification to fit. I will use the infinity coaxials for the rear.
