: Transmission pause when it shifts

Dealer says it is "Normal" for it to pause between shifts. Does the transmission have "Torque Management" and makes it shift like this to save wear and tear on it because of the high torque output? I hate this and want to make it go away. All input appreciated. Thanks.

Yup, the TM is killing the speed of the shifts.

I can adjust my tune from stock to none, with many levels in between.

Yes, that is normal operation under light to moderate throttle for reasons mentioned. At full throttle the shifts are much crisper. Especially if you use the manual shift.

Personally, I like how it operates.

You may want to see if it qualifies for the "TCM update" and if it has been done. That does improve shift quality somewhat.

It can be modified by a "tune". I'll let someone more knowledgeable jump in on that subject. Remember, if you modify that behavior you run the risk of reducing the reliability and *possible* warranty implications.

rpiotro- The dealer says that the records show that no updates need to be done. This I don't understand because car is registered as an '09 but the build date was June of '08 and it reached the dealer in Aug. '08. He says the update that everyone is talking about on this forum is not even listed in GMs bulletins.
Only at very slow speeds does it shift like an automatic should. Under any throttle and any mode, it has the big pause. Thanks

Try a different dealer.

Call up Vector Motor Sports and for around 200 bucks you can get their TCM tune.

WELL WELL WELL worth the money.

It's amazing the difference it makes.

Mine was built in April '08. Check your VIN. From the bulletin;

There will be a pause from first to second. I think it's that way with every tune I've read about. Not a long pause by any means, but there is just enough time to piss ya off. LOL

Second to third, it's instantaneous with a little tire burn.

All my shifts after second are like pushing a button. It just goes!

Never hurts to have the latest GM release.

what kind of pause? sport mode or regular mode? Is it hard that will throw you foward a bit then throw you back when it finally shifts? If so, try turning off traction control and try it again and see if it lessens. Sounds somewhat familiar...

Yes, if it has not been already done. You will like the difference in drivability.

Take that bulletin number with you to the dealership.
