It did get an external makeover and was debuted at the Detroit Auto Show as the 2008 Ford 500. Now at the Chicago Auto Show Ford has decided to change the name to the 2008 Ford Taurus along with changing the name of the restyled 2008 Ford Freestyle to the Taurus X. :thumbsup: Good job guys, great way to confuse everybody.

They did the same thing with the Lincoln Aviator/MKX, changed the name before it came on the market and the Zepher/MKZ, changed the name after one model year.

And to think, my wife calls me indecisive.

exactly. New external cosmetics + different name still doesn't change the car.

Although now the media might like it.... I found a funny article once that said the Ford Fusion was a great car and the Mercury Milan sucked... gee I thought they were 95% the same car... also how can one get a better crash test rating then the other???
