ok so one of my biggest downers for cars are fake stuff, especially fake hood scoops.:The_Villagers:
what would be the best way to make them functional without having to buy a new hood?
would you just punch out the plastic inserts and then cut a hole through the metal of the hood and put a mesh guard on the scoops?
and will it void your warranty? (im sure it will)

They are semi functional even though the rags say not.

They are baffled, but do let air in. I think it is the fender grills that are fake from close up photos I have seen.

great! it should be easy to un-restrict them
no how about those side vents:The_Villagers:
Anyone have an idea to why they would restrict them?

Same as the GTO's the stoppers help prevent rain and stuff from getting in. You can pull them out. There is not benifit to you using them for induction. The hood is one of the hottest parts of the car (yes these are metal). All your doing is heating up the incoming air. The ones on the goat maybe helped cool the engine bay a little but thats it.
yeah the side/marker vents are fake. The hood breathes air.

I guess the rags consider the hood scoops "fake" as they are not connected to the intake.....
Too bad the side marker vents are fake, it would have made for a good exit path.
I remember our 79 trans am had working side vents :)

But are they physically located adjacent to the engine bay or passenger compartment? If its the engine bay, break out your drill, a key hole saw, and go for it!:gr_jest:
