Hey guys... I just wanted to share some info about a place I am about to place an order with. I currently own a Mini Cooper S, which I doubt I'll ever let go of... but the G8 is on my horizon for one of the family vehicles pending wifely approval. Anyhow, in the Mini Community, there is a new kid on the block for paint care and protection that seems to be winning over fans of Zaino, Meguiars and other well known brands. What I'm talking about is the Prima line carried by Detailers Paradise. It's said a properly prepared car can expect 6-8 months of solid protection and good looks, and they have quite a few items (Hydro) that'll keep it spruced up in between. I can't comment yet on how well it will work for me, but there are literally hundreds of reviews on www.northamericanmotoring.com in the detailing forum for their products, not to mention solid how-to input from Richard (OctaneGuy) on www.showcardetailing.com

I have his product "Black Wow" for black trim... simply amazing. Cleaned the trim on my mini, kept it black and streak free for 4 months before I felt a reapply was necessary.

Anyhow, have a browse at www.detailersparadise.com if you're so inclined. I'll report back here with pics and results later in the March with my thoughts. Read a little if you're considering new stuff for the spring time... i'm anxious to hear how well the paint on the G8's hold up.

Im anxiously awaiting the G8 paint too... I have colour sanded my Monaro but was not able to be too aggresive at all cos its so soft and thin. Maybe itll be different on the G8's.

This stuff has been arouond for a while and is solid... but to be honest, there are so many good products out there, most of which are very similar and hard to tell the differnece.

If you want true 'epic' depth and reflection you can not come close to Zymol's Glaze line of waxes. I have used some of them and plan on getting the Vintage glaze as soon as I can.
Love to hear your input. Ive only tried the sealer and swirl.... which I was impressed with but I have found better for the money.
See my thread "Just intro myself..." if you want to know what I do..

Im curious about the dressing.... does your mini have the plastic black trim peices around the whel wells.??? And it holds them black for a long time without spraying black oil over the fenders?? Cheers

Ok, placed my order. I picked up the PC Bundle with pads, and the Paradise Super bundle... with my NAM discount, it only cost me $345! That's a TON of product, plus a porter cable RO buffer, a set of pads, and enough microfiber products to fill a bin. Friends of mine have used their stuff... really high quality results. The Black WOW product they make is simply amazing.

My most neglected paint finish is my 2001 Honda Odyssey... so I'll start with that. It's not even reflective anymore! Hopefully my kit will arrive this week so I can show off.

The best examples of these products in use is here: http://www.showcardetailing.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=31

Check out that DB9!! Amazing.

Yeah, I wondered how long it would be before someone had something smart to say about my opinions. Took longer than I thought... but I understand the skeptic. Like I said, I haven't even received my order of this stuff yet, (Friday probably) nor have I used it, except for the Black Wow, and that stuff is in my opinion, just the best dressing ever made for vinyl trim. I'll post up pics before and after of my mini sometime next week. The real proof is how well it holds up over time though. I don't care if you buy it or use it... just sayin!

I used a heat gun to remove the old vinyl from the Honda today. Wow was it obvious how bad the paint is in need of a serious polish job... I know I've been neglecting it, but geez! I usually put more time into the Mini and Mustang. I'm looking forward to spring cleaning to say the least.

Do any of you use machine polishers of any kind? I hear rotarys can be a real pain and easy to make mistakes with. I'm told this Random orbital polisher Porter-Cable makes is a good tool to use for polishing noobs like me.

More to come.... I can't wait to see a G8 here soon! Any day now they should be landing at dealers!

So you've used Swirl and Epic? Yeah, I've heard great things about Zymol. I pretty much believe that Meguires, Zymol, Zaino... and I'm hoping Prima... have good stuff and systems, each with their own benefits. Mini's do have a lot of black plastic trim all around the bottom... it's really a pain when you wax, tape is a definite requirement. A few mini owners end up painting their trim, but it's an expensive modification, around $700ish from what I've heard from most folks. Thankfully the G8 has hardly any trim! I like that about it.
