: 888 and the sunroof, or lack thereof...
I have read on the board a few times where none of the 888's have sunroofs. Can anyone validate this info?
I've got a deal pending on an 888 at one place and a deal pending on a non-888 at another. Of course, I'd prefer the 888 just cuz, but I rather have a sunroof as opposed to any bragging rights.
Dealer that's getting the 888 keeps trying to re-assure me that it'll be "fully loaded" to include the sunroof. He's a cool guy and all, but he's also obviously a victim of minimal information being passed on from above, like the rest.
He's estimating another 10-14 days before it arrives (Dallas area). The non-888 dealer says about the same time frame for delivery.
I'd like to free up his 888 to someone else if it's fact that it will not have a sunroof.

The other thing I would be wary of is the 888 dealer. Either they (or the salesman) are not very knowledgeable or are not being up front. My salesperson (and her manager) called me in December with info on their two 888s and asking if I would like one of the two. They knew at that time color, options, etc because they had tagged their cars. Also confirmed the lack of sunroof availability. All of the 888s were most likely tagged in late November 2007 or early December. For the dealership to not be able to provide you every detail (even possibly the VIN at this point), makes me think something is not exactly right. If they cannot provide you with the above specifics (except for the VIN), I would go with the non-888 dealer. Of course, a lack of sunroof being a deal breaker means you will have to go with the non-888 dealer anyway.

That info is correct. Also, if you look at the URLs for searching on the cars that have been invoiced, you'll see the same. here's an example from around Dallas: http://www.gmbuypower.com/vehiclelocator/locateVehicle.do?isRankVehicle=true&sortType=vehicleRank&displayInTemplate=false&defaultpath=true&hostingSite=gmvs&maximumCount=25&make=pg&postalCode=75201&proximity=150&proximityUnitOfMeasure=MILES&includeDuplicateVendors=true&searchCountry=US&submit=Submit&modelDesignator=2EC69&searchType=0&vendorId=112123.0&style=Sedan&zip=30096&makeId=002&vehicleModel=/images/gmbp/16002/vehicle/2008/med/2008251.gif&year=2008&sellingSource=16&subModel=&subModelId=251&&modelId=085&pvc=207&mmc=2ER69&brand=G8%20Sedan&model=G8%20Sedan&type=%20%20%20&typeDescrip=%20%20%20
What you'll note is that most of the cars listed are the 888s (and none have sunroofs), though there are some non-888 cars that have been invoiced that do have the sunroof...
chiefpontiac 03-04-2008, 07:38 AM Absolutely correct that none of eth 888's have sunroof. You can take that to the bank. Or you can have the dealer install an aftermarket sunroof if it is that important.
Of 5 closest dealers to center city Dallas, only 2 have GT's invoiced, both gray, premium, sport - no sunroof.
Well heck.
Thank y'all much for the additonal info.
Confirmed, no sunroof. Game on.
BlueGoat 03-04-2008, 06:26 PM Dealers should know what they tagged. There were 7 levels (I forget the exact terminology), with level 7 being a fully loaded GT with sport package, premium package and roof. When your dealer tagged his cars, he had to choose one of those levels, so unless he just forgot, he should know. The 888's were an exception -- take what they send you.

I found this to be true. My 888 was supposed to have the sport package (read 19" wheels) but is coming through with 18". Anyone in the northern tier want to burn off their summer driving tires and swap wheels with me before the snow flies? Let me know. There still should be pretty good tread left on mine before then.
