: What do you think most popular color will be?
CaptPJB 03-05-2008, 09:50 AM Color choice is pretty limited and most magazines are showing the bright red. Black is always popular ( but not for me I am fanatical about driving a clean car) On a large sedan I am not sure white would look that good although generally I like white cars. Which leaves me personally with magnetic gray as my first choice and white second? I have not actually seen any yet so it is hard to choose
Any thoughts

I tagged a G8 in Magnetic Gray Metallic before I even saw the color. When I finally saw it in person at the auto show, it seemed darker than what I imagined (especially based on the show car from 2007). But I am still happy with the color.
Most popular? I guess it doesn't really matter yet because Pontiac is deciding how many of each to make, right? We don't get to special order G8s yet...
My grandprix is slivermyst, which is pretty much gray. I like the brighter silvers, like galaxy silver on the later model grand prixs.
I plan on getting silver with 09. My fav. color for cars.
F15eWeapon 03-06-2008, 08:06 PM Well, if the G8 follows conventional car color choices, White will win, then the grey/silvers.
Personally, I'm very anxious to see the stealth blue and orange! I love bright colors on a car... I think it helps me to be seen a little more, both safety wise, and "Hey, look at my sweet ride-wise. :gears:
PMD G8 03-06-2008, 08:37 PM Actually, black will be the most produced color.
My predictions for the 08 model:
1.Black
2.Red
3.Magnetic Grey
4.White
5.Orange
6.Stealth Blue - No-Brainer b/c production has supposedly already ended on this color.
Attorneyguy 03-06-2008, 09:16 PM I think your list is right on. Maybe I might debate you as to #2 and #3, but overall you got it right.
Of course, it not a question of popularity here. There is no democratic vote. Pontiac is the tyrant and it is deciding what colors we get and in what quantities. We're just left vying for them.

CaptPJB 03-09-2008, 05:20 PM Can anyone point me in the direction of a white G8 photo? I've managed to find pictures grey, black and red.

CaptPJB 03-09-2008, 07:46 PM Thanks great pics I really like this car in white
BlueGoat 03-09-2008, 08:00 PM I'm in line for the first G8GT to hit one of two dealers. Black on one (all options), the other unknown. I'll take what I can get the best deal on.
Having said that, red would be my choice from a practical standpoint. When you have a "metalflake" paint, each mica chip in the paint is a bonding interface between the chip and the paint. These do not hold up as well as a solid color paint over time. That leaves white and red, since the black is metalflake (damn it!). Black is also hotter 'n hell in the summer and with a black interior, it isn't my first choice. In addition, so-called "silver" paint or metallic gray paint lacks color pigment, so there is less bonding agent with the metalflake. That's why even the expensive cars in silver (MB, BMW, Lexus, etc.) have paint failures after a few years because they are almost all metallic gray of some sort. May look good on the showfloor, but it isn't at all practical if you plan to keep the car and especially if you can't garage it when you're not rolling.
Attorneyguy 03-09-2008, 08:48 PM Does Pontiac currently offer Magnetic Gray Metallic on any other model besides the G8?
tjccpa 03-09-2008, 09:04 PM Thanks great pics I really like this car in white
My first choice was a white 888, which I found in Virginia, but dealer wanted MSRP +3495. I'm told he has upped the ante to MSRP +4995 now. I found #287 in Red GT closer to home (SC) for MSRP MINUS $500, so I'm happy. This car is replacing my '97 white GTP that is really a beautiful car. Eleven years and 115,000 miles and it still looks and drives great. I had such great fun with that belt driven blower. License was LYTN NG. Few folks could make the connection between the color of the car and the plate to come up with WHITE LIGHTNING. I will try to attach a photo, taken just a couple of weeks ago, after the detailer finished it and before I gave it away.
Sloloco 03-09-2008, 11:42 PM White FTW You won't believe how clean it looks in white until you see it in person...
