Upon wrapping up the group ride & drive today, I "ordered" my G8. I quote the word order only because as of now you can't technically order one from the factory and have it built just for you like in the old days. Until as late as mid '09, dealers are pulling from a pool similar to how Toyota gets cars. You tell them what they want and they pull the car from an availability list of cars online. It's a cool program, I messed around with it a little. Only downside was not being able to print out an actual build sheet.

So having explained that, the car I have coming was built 1/23/08 which is a lucky date in my book! We expect to see it land as soon as late-March.

As many of you know and just like several of you, I fell in love with the "hot" white. I just had to order it with the Premium + Sport package! I am really looking forward to the day I take delivery. The only down side to that day is I will driving it straight accross town to the R&D department at Borla! :eek2:

I'm basically relying on what the importer I'm doing business with is telling me and he is relying on the dealer who has allocations to get one so from what I was told we can order in 2 weeks. As of with any type of info that could be subjected to change but I'm relying on it because I want to order a 2009 asap. Good luck with your quest as well man! :thumbsup:

Thanks guys! I spoke to a friend at GM Corp and you guys wil be getting allocation in the Midewest and South within the next 4-6 weeks (depending on location). Interesting enough the dealers are getting allocation depending on their GTO order history. I was a little amazed when my client showed me the GM memo that said only 700 of the states 2700 dealers got 1 or more of the first batch.

I was considering waiting for the '09 but a few guys from GM corp. also said along with the additional options in '09 the prices would be raising as well (even on the base model). I believe the exact verbiage was "get one while you can because they won't be so inexpensive in '09".

Lastly...I never would have thought of getting white! I was dissapointed by the grey and I said I would never buy another black car. This car in white just gives this car so much justice.

Black is OK, IF you can keep it clean. I much prefer pure black, not metalflake black, because of paint durability issues; plus, the metalflake lightens the black to more of a dark gray in sunlight. But beggars can't be choosers if you want a G8 any time soon, so I'll take what I can get when a loaded GT comes in, the color be damned.

Red or white are best 2 colors. Black is worst color ever invented for cars. Nothing but a PITA to keep clean and it shows every swirl and scratch. You clean it, 1 hour later looks like you never washed it.

Good choice with the white. I never liked white because white gets dirty really fast, but this car looks so damn good in white.

My order of fav colors for the car are as follows:
White, Red, Silver, Orange, Black, Purple

Hey, I want to be a pipeline of info. for fellow future G8 owners. So, I have decided to get comparo. shots if my client still even has a GT and a base. The list is a pic of the different; exhaust tips, tail lights, steering wheels and rims. Also, I can get a brochure if anyone needs and am sure I can mail it priority for $5 or less if your local dealer doesn't yet have them (very nice item, poosible collectors too?!)
