ok the session is gettin closer...i am ready for the strip to open up...what can i expect? the strip is darlington dragway. my good friends grandma owns it. its in south carolina...but i was wondering what does stock g8's run? i have a 4 inch k&n clamp on filter. stock airbox. and i got straight pipes no resonnators with two flo pro mufflers and stock tips...and some cheap nanking tires...what do yuo think i might run. im thinking a 13.4-13.6???? can someone please correct me? thanks for your time.

I don't think I can correct you, but last Friday I ran completely stock, forgetting to turn off the traction control, and got a best of 13.66 @ just over 102 mph. I've got the base GT w/ the 18" wheels.
Post what you ran, would love to see it.

From what I remember of the posts about this;
Put it over in sport, but don't pull it into first.
Turn off everything, radio, AC, lights, traction control.
Don't burn out unless you just want to, it does nothing for street tires.
When the last yellow starts to light, start mashing the gas pedal down, but take about a second to go from nothing-to-floored. If you just floor it, you'll spin your tires and get a horrible time.
After the car shifts into third, pull the stick back to keep it in third. Now, I didn't have this problem, but the reason for doing this is that most of the guys here had their car trying to shift into fourth just before the finish line, slowing their ETs.
Pull the shute! Just kidding, of course.

Most of all, have fun. I can't wait to go back!

Is this your first time drag racing at a track? If so I would expect a low of 13.6 from you. 13.4 would be great though and it should be attainable with the little mods you have.

For a muscle/sports car, that's quick. For a 4000lb 4 door sedan, it's plain sick. My Dad's '69 Z28 would run low 14's on a good day (back when he drag raced as a youngster 30+ years ago). Not too many sedans on the road can pull these numbers at the track.

all i want to do is match or beat my friends svt cobra...he runs a 13 flat. his girlfriend has a mustang gt with a super charger that runs a 12.9. his dad has a ford lighting. and his mom has a v6 mustang with a super charger haha...he is a svt family! but i think after a cold air intake...and im going for new era's OTR intake and a good laptop tune i should be able to hit 13'? what do yall think?

If your friend has a 03-04 Terminator Cobra....then do not get caught up on trying to beat him. If you mod your car then he does not have to spend/do much to destroy you with those cars. Your friend's family sounds pretty badass(not for people on here that hate Ford) and it seems they are not afraid to mod.

Just go out and run the car. See what you get and try to perfect your runs in it's current form, then do the same after you mod it. If you are going to use a Terminator as your benchmark for 1/4 and he is willing to spend...you better have deep pockets lol.

Look for an LX car to beat up on lol.

P.S. Terminators can run faster than 13s stock.

I've done two 13.5s, a 13.6, and a few 13.7s. And that was when it was 60something degrees out.

so not true. CAI, Cat-back, and a good tune will get you 12.9 if you can drive.

edit: as much fun as it is to beat up on mustangs though, it's really not a fair comparison to us. Hell, a stock mustang at is heaviest weighs, what? 3300 pounds?

yeah true that...mustangs arent as heavy...they put out about the same hp to...but its still fun to beat them up because then u can say my 4100 pound car **with driver** outran ur 37 thousand buck gt. lol...alot of my friends sport stangs...iv out ran all of them except cody's svt and his girlfriends mustang gt with the super charger.
