stock for stock it would be close. With your tune and exhaust you should take him.

Stock for stock the 467 hp Caddie should win even if it weighs a couple hundred pounds more. My insurance agent has the STS-V; we plan to race them on the highway the next time we meet. Who knows when that will be, but at close to 410hp and 425tq, I think I may have a good chance.

The hard part is finding an sts-v who will race. Most of the ones I see are going 15 under the speed limit and the driver is a couple years shy of a century.

We were at a light and he was a couple cars ahead, the road split to 2 lanes after the light so I left it in first anticipating the split and pulled up next to him at like 5500rpm, looked to be a mid 30s guy, gave a huge smile, i put it in 2nd and romped it again...tried to get him to come onto the highway behind me but he just kept going straight. Hopefully he'll take the bait the next time.

4DCYKEY what's done to your car?

OPG CAI, Kooks 1 3/4 LT with x-pipes, stock rear mufflers, dyno-tuned engine and trans. The car dyno'd lower than most at 334.4 rwhp and 348.4 rwtq, but it pulls like I don't remember my C5 with 390hp pulling. :)

Oh ok you meant you have 410/425 crank...dyno's are for tuning, not to brag about big numbers...I'm sure it'll do mid/high 12s like the rest of the pack with headers/cai/tune.

Tug Boat & 4DCYKEY: Those supercharged Caddys seem totally awesome. Let us know how the races turn out! Wish I could be in the car for those runs! :)

Why they would only put a 4.4L V8 in the STS-V is totally beyond me. For close to 90K you figure you'd get a proper V8 to move all that weight.

it's a 4.4L V8 with a blower on it, i think that's a lil different

That would be fantastic out of a 4000 pound four-door...

Still, for 90 fuggin grand man, I'd want a proper V8.

That's why these cars are awesome, until people start recognizing them, they just think, "Oh man I'm gonna rock this idiot in this 4 door grocery getter..."

You did catch what I was trying to say right? I wasn't bashing you in any way, just trying to get you off of dyno numbers, they don't mean **** on the track/street.

I remember racing back to back with a Sts-V at the track. I had my TBSS and the guy in the caddy was every bit of 60 years old. He was running very low 13's and my TBSS was high 12's. I can't remember if he had mods, maybe a cai if anything.

Hey TugBoat try your luck against a 2009 CTS-V :) Those things are a beast. First time at the track for an older gentleman ran best 12.1 with spinning launches. I am sure he will be back at it for some better launches.

HAHAHA....after the H/C and 200 shot I'll try my luck against anything on a 40 roll

Yeah it's only 267 cu in, but 469 hp at 6400rpm is not anything to sneeze at. And the max torque of 439 come in at only 3900 rpm. Be careful out there, a STS-V in the proper hands might give a GXP a good run.

what do you mean by proper V-8?

A Supercharged 4.4 DOHC Northstar making over 450HP isnt proper?

When I hear V8, and am shelling out 90 grand, I would personally think it would be 5.0L or more. That setup is obviously awesome, but no one can argue that a 267ci V8 is a small V8.

Shaffe
03-03-2009, 06:19 PM
that argument makes no sense. im sorry i just dont see it. yea its small but who cares if its a small v-8. so do you think ferraris 4.0 V-8 that was in the 360 Modena is not proper(could be wrong on displacement)

so by your argument would you rahter have a 6.2L OHV LS3 making 430HP(thats the top power in a LS3 right?, or a 4.4 DOHC Supercharged Northstar making 469HP-and just for the sake of the argument if they were both availble in said 90K car. you would rather have the 6.0? just because its bigger

TheTugBoat

Nah, I'd want the 6.0 or 6.2 WITH the blower obviously. Haha, all I was saying is that a 267ci V8 is a small small V8, especially for 90 grand.

I raced one with a loud exhaust yesturday as a matter of fact. Funny thing is, I was walking out of McDonalds and he let me walk in front of him, I saw the diamond chrome grill and wondered, then I saw it was an STS-V. As he went buy, I thought it was loud, and had big exh outlets. He was going throught the drive through. It just so happened that he was right behind me leaving the parking lot, and we lined up at the next light. I was first to the light and he pulled up furhter than me and was looking at my TB. I pulled up a bit then he pulled up more, so I thought ok, game on. The light turned and I left him at the light, thinking he didn't actually want to race. I looked in my mirror and his car was sideways, he got it straight and fishtaled some more. I think I caught him sleeping and he tried to play catch-up, but didn't have a chance, not enough room. My lane slowed and we both waved. Gotta love 18 deg weather and awd when racing a rear driver without doing a John Force burn out to warm the tires.

Sounds like fun, however gives absolutely no insight into how fast the STS-V was...imagine that, a $90k car, with an idiot that doesn't know how to drive it behind the wheel...
