Now that people are starting to get their G8 GT's how is the speaker system? Does the system have plenty of bass? Can you access the amp if the bass isn't enough?

Specs on the GT (230W system) says 2 sub woofers (out of 11 speakers). If the Blaupunkt head is similar to my GTO, there is an equalizer control (of sorts) where you can crank the low end.

2 8" subs... I'd like to get a single 10 put in for good tight lows and run a couple hundred watts into it.

Did they put $5 paper speaker in the G8 like they did in the GTO?

Test drove one this afternoon, but couldn't find 2 of the 11 speakers. By my count, we have:

4 in the door panels
2 tweeters up front
2 subs in the back
1 center stage in the console

I couldn't find any others, though I didn't tear into it too much, either - anyone know where those other 2 are?

Also, that appeared to be the factory amp for the subs (and some others) mounted under the trunk as opposed to back by the battery at the GTOs were. Again, waiting for mine to start pulling things apart and validate, but if anyone else can do so, let me know. Thanks.

Maybe the rear doors have 2 way speakers?

Maybe I'm missing something, but I am not impressed with the sound system at all. When I accessed the audio control screen, Bass & Treble are unchangeable. :(

You need to turn off the EQ in order to adjust the bass and treble...

See, I knew it was something

Just got it yesterday, haven't delved too deeply into the owner's manual yet.

That would be my guess. GTOs are the same way. Rear side panel speakers are 2 way.

I love the Blaupunkt system already in the car. Fits me just perfect! I've never been one for the extremely loud trunk rattling bass.

If the system is setup right there should be no need to add or subtract anything... That being said... Most cars aren't setup right. When I ran A/M systems in my younger days I always ran them flat and tuned them with the gain on the amps...

I do the same with my home system. Totally flat and tune with the amps... Just a purer way of doing it.

Remember that speakers have a break in period. All "high end" speaker retailers will actually put up new speakers and let them play music over several days solid to break them in so they are at their peak when a customer listens to them.

Just some useless tidbits of info for ya'll... lol

I guarantee the speakers are garbage. The headunit in the GTO is okay but the speakers are garbage. First thing I did was upgrade the door units and rear speakers and Hush Matted the doors. It makes a huuuuuge difference over stock.

I played with a Blaupunkt system on the G8 at my local dealer yesterday for about 15 minutes. It has preset EQ settings swapped with one button on the fly, but you can fine tune things with the eq controls yourself in the menu's. Menu's were intuitive and simple to use, and the display looked great.

Speaker quality looked to be standard fare, although the magnets on the subs were probably 2" thick. The amp is mounted on the rear deck in the truck, offset to the left a bit.

I would imagine you'd do well eventually to swap out the speakers across the board, as long as you replaced with efficient speakers that weren't very power hungry. Otherwise, you're going to drop some bucks for a much higher end system.

If it means anything, quality sounded as good as my Harmon Kardon system in my Mini. You won't blow anyone away with it, but sound quality was good for a vehicle.

..................The amp is mounted on the rear deck in the truck, offset to the left a bit........Are you sure, it looks more like the Onstar system.

Nope, not sure... I didn't think about the onstar stuff. Ok, so there is a metal box thingy up there, not sure what it's for... :D
