Anyone know what the GXP price will be?

Thats it.. Just 40HP increase... Well at least it looks a little bit better than the GT... They would be out of there mind to charge more than $3k over the base GT for the GXP.

Always one step behind...

In defence of GM/Pontiac - They ARE making the GXP a reality. CAFE standards are also a reality as $4.00/gal fuel may soon be. It's also got a stick.

I think this is a detune to the LS3 in search of mileage.

Finally - this is the role out version. This is a platform that has lots of room to upgrade.

Would have liked to see functional ram-air and a revised rear spoiler (GM Performance Parts to be?)

Would love to see a full blown out HSV GTS with a S/C Motor dubbed the GXP.R :-D

I'm interested in the pricing as well. If it's too high I'll stick with the GT and do the simple CAI, exhaust and tune and get 400+hp no problem.

Definitely won't be surprised if it's $40K. LS3, and what the article calls a "fully adjustable suspension", brembo's, HSV wheels. Plus, that'll put it a few K under an SRT8.

Base MSRP of an SRT-8 is $36,355, though destination charge and gas guzzler tax put it just over $39k, based on Dodge's website.

I would expect around $35k for the M6 while the auto will get hit by the gas-guzzler tax. Higher if they actually offer options. Many people would be hesitant to buy a $40k+ Pontiac and base Corvettes can be had for $43k. Pontiac will need to offer aggressive pricing to move the GXP.

I don't think they will have to worry too much about pricing. If they are going to add an ST and GXP, to the Sedan and GT, I doubt they are going to build that many. Remember they are still going to build them in Oz and there is a Max annual production of about 30K US cars across all 4 models. I think this is a new strategy for GM, get top dollar for the cars that people want, and don't build a ton and have to discount them later. Just my $0.02.

With that rationale, if all they're going to do is build the GXP as a limited production halo car, then they're really marketing it to the collector crowd. IMO, that serves no purpose to the corporate bottom line at GM as it exists today. Pontiac needs relevance and profitability on a mass-produced car, not something your father's dealership will let languish on the sales floor to tease the masses.

Honestly, I don't see too much of a difference to be impressed.

GM official announcement (http://media.gm.com/us/gm/en/news/events/autoshows/08ny/brands/pontiac/08_NYAS_Pontiac_G8%20GXP_OR.htm) no need to rely on second hand info.

I said before I did not expect the full 430 of the Vette from THIS LS3. Advantage: better mpg, no GGT?, maybe price upcharge less than $3k. Also once we know what differences there really are between the two LS3's it may be as simple as a ecm remap or change the size of the throttle body or injectors - simple stuff (relatively-all external without cracking the engine open) So it should not be a stretch to extract 'vette level hp from it. So even a worst case scenario should not add more than $5k to the GT for GXP, that's still less than $38k. For a ride that is only 0.1 second slower to 60 than a 500hp BMW M5.

If it's less than 38K, I'm in... no doubt about it.

I'm expecting somewhere between $36k-$39K, but no more than $39K.

I'll just put an exact numbered guess out there: Base GXP $36,995

I really think they'd have a hard time justifying more than a $5k increase in price for this. Hell all I want is the manual tranny and those wheels. If they offer the GT with an M6, I may just get a GT, buy the GXP wheels, and put some BFG KDW's on them. Then start moddin' away..... :boink:

Don't expect a GT manual - not enough demand to warrant that offering. If you are serious about owning a manual, get all the goodies in the GXP. Even at $38k, where else can you get this combination of features at this price?

M6 while the auto will get hit by the gas-guzzler tax.

Why? The auto is also a six speed, so the 5/6th gear ratios should be favorable for mileage vs. the older 4 speeds.

You're right on the ratios, but the auto box is less efficient than a manual (torque converter) and adds about 100# weight to the vehicle.
