Out driving today, doing between 70-80, sunny and warm finally. Opened up the sunroof, just as it got to the max position, it cracked, did not fall apart.
Pull the shield back, pull the sunroof down and BOOM. Anyone else have this happen yet?

well, if a rock hit it (or something else, cause i have seen bricks thrown at cars), that would be one thing.... but I have seen glass crack due to assembly type error/flaws. Just trying to help

Pictures won't indicate how it was cracked, I think you've been watching too much CSI.

spider webs from one spot. vs. a straight line or lines? good luck trying to ask for dealer help if it was vandalized.

That happened to me on a 1979 Buick Park Avenue..

Did have my sunroof in G8 twist and quit. Got it back into place somehow and dealer installed a new sunroof kit (last summer) Not only works better, it has less wind noise!

I had exactly the same issue with my 2008 BMW 328 a month ago. BMW Canada would NOT cover the roof. A friend of mine at GM said they DO cover that as it is rare and could be a number of defective issues with the car.

GM claims it was a rock, will not cover it. They had made their minds up before they even heard what happened.

I was hanging out on a Saturn Sky forum for quit a while before I converted to G8-ism. There were several members there that had a problem with the front glass cracking near the passenger side windshield wiper. If I recall correctly, some managed to get it replaced under warrenty, and others didn't.

For the front glass, though, it's easier for me to see how a flaw in the glass, the A-pillar, or assembly process could lead to a load on the glass. It's harder to imagine for a sunroof. (Which probably translates to "harder get replaced under warrenty".)
