We have been getting a lot of emails asking for it..so here you go.

This is the Superchips Cortex handheld tuner with support for the 2008+ G8 GT. On top of it's standard canned tunes, I have been told they are working on a tune specifically for the new Volant intake!

Check out our great price at the link below-

this is a great device, I would highly recommend this for anyone who wants the ease of a tune it yourself product. It really woke my GT up.

Yup, the tranny shifting improvement alone is worth the price of admission.

One question though, where'd you come up with "Normally $519.00, you save $169.05"? Even directly from Superchips with no discount it's only $429.

and youll be able to download these spec tunes for free correct?

So if i were to buy one now, with a normal 91 tune, every update is a free download? a 93 tune, intake tune, etc, etc?

So if i bought one now without the updated -93 octane tune and air intake (when they become available???) i could upload the new tune from Superchips??

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

:) so can anyone give me a definite word here... ive heard some say that the dealership can detect these tunes, and ive heard some say that they cannot... something about flash counts or parameters or something... what is really the final word? I want this tuner, i just dont want to void my warranty!!

If you tune back to stock, how will they tell you ever had a different tune. Or better yet, how will they ever prove it. This is IMO the safest way possible in tuning your vehicle with keeping warranty in mind.

BTW, this is by far the best performance mod I've ever done in any of the 20 vehicles I've had since age 16. It absolutely makes this car a lot more fun to drive. Might not gain the most HP in comparison to a dyno tune, but the transmission tune and changes you can make in minutes is TOPS!!

So can anyone with one of these say what tunes are available for the G8? From what I read, you have to have the tuner and be registered to see them.

this doesn't have header support, correct? so if i got it, then in a couple years my wife let me get headers, i'd need to get another tuning solution? would i be able to sell this one to another g8 owner? or is it VIN locked?

Aaron407

It's not VIN locked. As long as you'd return your car to stock you could sell it fully functional to another user (without the warranty, though).

Here's the problem with your question: "in a couple years my wife let me get headers"

I might suggest these steps:
1) Get headers
2) Remove frying pan from back of head
3) Get dyno tune

Seriously though, I am going through the same thoughts. When I did this with my GTO, 4 months after headers and a dyno tune (I swear that was all I was going to do), I ended up installing a maggie.

Any word on the progress for tunes with a CAI?

Has anyone noticed any fuel mpg gains? If so, how much.

Congratulations!!

Spend the money on a a good infant seat. What's the worse that can happen with the car, no mods for a while and no potential warranty headaches.

It's amazing how much less important the car becomes when there is a new baby in the house to take all the attention and relaibility is ranked way ahead of performance.

I think you will be spending your intake and exhaust money on formula and diapers. Enjoy the kids now, it won't be long until it won't be cool to be around mom and dad.

I love the idea of a tune, but the last few stories of blown engines freaks me out about messing with the tune on the car.

To my knowledge, the blown engines were due to a CAI kit, not a tune.

OK, you mean the one that let water in? Retrofab I think it's called, the previous version at least.

No, not the Rotofab. It was an OTR

I do believe it was the New Era OTR intake that was letting water in. I do not believe the Roto Fab has ever had a problem.
In fact both OTR intakes (New Era and Vararam) have had issues. Vararam had a issue with collapsing, but theyve fixed it.
