Hours after taking delivery of our brand new shop G8 we strapped it to our dyno for some brake in sessions and finally some full pulls. Pretty stout numbers IMO.

That is more than a lot of 05-06 A4 GTOs.

That is more HP/TQ than my 05 A4 GTO Stock (320/330)

(Yes all dyno's are different) Regardless Great Numbers, now go break it in a little further and run it again.

Maybe it should say rearwheel instead of flywheel?

You're running regular right? Not trying to start a debate, just getting the details all sorted out in my head.

I would like to know that as well. I would think that's with premium, but if it's on regular then that would be amazing.

It is amazing either way. The GTOs recommended fuel is ONLY premium.

We are honestly not sure. We are pretty sure that the dealership sent us home with a full tank of 87. In about a week or so of brake in we are going to re-dyno with a tank of premium.

Soon. We are excited too because the A/F could use some work and also the timing im sure is dialed back for the 87 octane gasoline.

Very interested to see what you can get with just a tune and 91 octane with a sealed up motor.

I know there are a few cams that should work well, should work really well.

But I would like a good idea of what you can get out of just the 91 octane tune.

To me that power band looks plenty wide for a 6 speed tranny.

So I just got back from my first semi long trip in the G8. We are now at 188 miles.

Getting ruffly 18 mpg (holding about 90 both ways with multiple full throttle blasts)

Car feels like 65mph at 100mph.

Car pulls slightly left. (will solve problem when we do the pedders suspension.)

Car seems to be getting a lil faster by the minute. (We will have to dyno one more time before she goes under the knife.)

Its almost dead quite inside. Very slight tire noise at high speeds.

Over all this is by the far the best factory stock gm product i have ever driven.

I will try to be diligent about keeping you guys posted with all the different stages of the car.

In about 6 hours i will be running the car down the 1/4, it will be autocrossed, I might even attempt some drifting in it. Hopefully I can put together a camera to document the madness.

Alright guys I'm pretty much ready to pass out so stay tunned for more tommorow.

G-night

Tire noise? Are you running the 18" or 19" summers, or the 18" M&S?

If I were 2000+ miles closer, I'd be your camera man. Otherwise, someone on the East coast is gonna have to do those to their G8.

numbers are pretty impressive. Looks like the GT is way underrated as that car is making just north of 400hp using a 20% driveline loss.

they really tied this thing down out of Aus huh!?? Should be easy to get big numbers!

I notice how mine pulls harder than my GTO does at higher speeds. It just wants to keep going... i friggen luv it:)
Quick Q: Braking in.... method for fitst 1K-5K and when can we expect it to be fully boken in??

The G8 is impressing a lot of people. I hope that the people who traditionally have a negative view of GM products give it a look. GM needs people to know about and experiance cars like this to turn their image around.

I am looking forward to your track results.

I just read in Car and Driver their test car went a 13.8@104mph. Not bad for a stock sedan. Hopefully a tune will knock several tenths off of that...

Yeah, my dealer was real nice and sent the salesman with me when I bought my GTO. We pulled up at the gas pump down the street, he jumped out and filled the tank with regular! Jeez, 11:1 compression ratio and I have a tank full of regular! Needless to say, I drove it very carefully until I could purge that tank. I don't think any dealers, or their salesmen (most of whom know pitifully little about their products to command such hefty commissions) ever put premium in anything they've sold. I could be wrong ....

The real question could be answered by comparing power output on the dyno with both regular and premium. I hope someone can do this!

Thanks brother one step ahead of me.

Guys I'm lovin this thing more and more.

The drag strip #'s were not revolutionary but this thing kicked ass on the autocross. I can't wait for my Pedders.

We will be dojng the suspension very shortly and then the car is getting shipped off to maggnusson for a lil while.

Thanks Mike Haddad

Can you post a breakdown of the whole slip (especially the 60')? What were the weather conditions? How many passes, and what traps?
Thanks!!

Probably because they haven't done any mods. I was disappointed when my GTO dynoed at 323 RWHP.....

im still hoping for higher trap speeds however.

....But, that doesn't mean that it ain't fast. Even my best run was a 13.02 @ 100 mph. Doesn't seem right. At least I put a little more trust in the timing lights than my butt stopwatch. Hell, my car would be a 12-sec car if I could improve my RT.

FYI, the clocks don't start until you break the beam...RT doesn't effect ET ;)

Damn Mike you're a night owl. lol Must be all the excitement of owning such a nice ride.

Thanks for letting me check out your G8. Those 19"s and red two tone interior is just beautiful. It makes me want to sell my SRT right NOW!!!

I'm away for a few days but I'll post pics of your ride when I get home.

Heres an overlay of a bone stock LS2 GTO A4 with like 7k miles on it and our G8 with 17 miles on it after several brake in runs.

Wow Mike, thats great news.

An officer in my club just got one. Gave me a drive last night. That damn car pulls hard! He's looking for a dyno too. We gotta see if the Charcoal Gray puts down more or less then the Haddad Red one you got!

Good to hear Haddad MS is putting it down right. Keep up the great work.

Ps. Come over and post up everyonce in a while bro!

reaction time plays no role in ET on a test and tune run - you could sit at the green for 5 seconds if you want....100mph trap for a GTO seems horribly slow - my 1.8t jetta with a tune and exhaust trapped 100mph on 100 octane.
