beach 03-19-2009, 07:40 PM It's in very early release, and just now going out to a group of members on another forum who got on the first release group buy list.
Vararam makes them and is the one selling them directly, too. The G8 system is not yet on their site, etc. and until the first bath of first units are out to those who signed on early, it probably won't be. But, that said, search for the Vararam site.
You can, and should, contact them directly still and ask/express interest, as well--they should get back to you.
c5racr1 03-19-2009, 09:13 PM thanks
matthewo 03-19-2009, 09:44 PM im number 36 on the list. havent got it yet. or even a pm about where to send money.

USF3983 03-20-2009, 05:06 PM i think i'm 65 :(
Those of you that are getting the vararam next week, DAMN YOU. Actually I look forward to hearing your impressions of it.
Mike @ New Era 03-20-2009, 11:51 PM We are backed up also with our OTR intakes, but we do have available stock left in our powdercoated intakes due back from powdercoat on Tuesday. And, we also have polished and Raw ($20 less than the powdercoated ones, which you can paint the color you like or polish) IN STOCK.
kjac081 03-21-2009, 02:06 AM hey, i got mine in and installed yesterday.
i did a write up on another board, just look for my user name
ThugHunter 03-21-2009, 06:21 AM I went with the New Era OTR option instead of the Vararam. I read on another board that Vararam has shipped the first 10 units to the waiting list. And plan to ship the next 10 in a week or so. The list is something like 96 deep. At that rate, someone who ordered now, wouldn't get their intake for 2.5 months. That's about 5000 miles of driving for me and way too long to wait when the New Era is a proven product and available in a couple weeks of waiting. Mine is hopefully in the Tuesday's batch. If not I'll just move on to a Roto Fab. It's not like any of the intakes are that much more superior than the other. We're only talking a couple HP difference at best. To me that's not worth the wait.
99-LS1-SS 03-21-2009, 06:25 AM Mine should be in Tuesday.
Mine should be here Monday or Tuesday.
09G8DC 03-24-2009, 12:38 PM If anyone has pics I would like to see what it looks like, thanks.

Two entirely different intakes. About all they have in common is where they're mounted and the basic intake air path.
locrzng888 03-25-2009, 06:41 AM I went with the NEP OTR, I like the option of paint or polish. I'm not into the black plastic look, nothing wrong with it, just not my bag. I like just a little more bling. I took to route of polishing mine and purchased the raw version. Took couple hours to finish and have also come up with a diverter to direct the air into the intake. Works great
The Commodore 03-26-2009, 11:29 PM Installed the Vararam tonight and I am impressed. I have no tune yet so it will get better. You can definitely feel it's presence on the top end and the throttle is very responsive now. It actually revealed to me how bad the transmission tune is. I would feel it immediately go into the throttle but the transmission would mess up on the downshift.
Raced a 05+ Mustang GT manual with at least exhaust. He caught me off guard on the line and put 1/2 a car on me immediately. I reeled him in fast and started walking pretty good on him. It was at least 2 cars by the time I shut it down. You could tell it was pulling good.
This intake also makes the car sound like it has balls but every intake does that.
Installation took around an hour but that's because my father stopped by and started talking about his 76 Camaro 305. It was an overall easy installation.
I recommend!

Commodore, how solid is the radiator?
I read elsewhere about the rocking problems with one owner.
Did yours mount solid?
I'm still 60% for the Vararam as compared to 40% for the Volant. I have gotten over the basic appearance, but have now started to grow concerned about my radiator having any movement to it.
Does it have a very solid, OE appearance?
Thanks!

The radiator has slight movement on mine but my father as well as my friend and I concluded it's nothing really to worry about. Once you put down the hood it seems like it makes it tight. I say this because you have to drop the hood now, where before you could just shut it by dropping it a few inches. I think the hood puts some pressure on the intake which in turn puts pressure on the radiator. I don't see it as a problem and if it is I can fab something up to hold it stiff. From a ghetto ziptie to a bracket. Something can be made to make it not move at all if you want.
Also the guy that had an issue with the radiator has a different engine in his car IIRC. He may have had to do some stuff to it before and that could result in his problem.
It has a somewhat OE apperance, the red cupling does throw aftermarket at you though. And so does the sticker that came on it.
Eric_GT 03-27-2009, 10:19 AM Thanks Commodore.
I am only going to buy one intake, and then move on to something else.
For me, the Volant had the nicest appearance. But, I rarely pop my hood.
I like the idea of the Vararam and by construction is has to be the best design for ram air. I can't see anything being designed better.
I just don't want to come back in here 6 months from now and hear, "Damn radiator got eaten by my fan from too much flex in my vararam." :(
lonewolfz28 03-27-2009, 10:58 AM Thanks G8 Ray, that second picture was the one I was looking for.
Eric_GT 03-27-2009, 03:27 PM Just got my p.m.
Vararam coming next week!!!!!!!!
This is what I have been waiting for...more so I can get a dyno tune and FINALLY get the AFM turned off! :D
chiefpontiac 03-31-2009, 04:03 PM We had been extremely lenient when this product was in the design and development phase but now taht the product is in full release it falls into the category of NSV, or non-supporting vendor. Yes you can show the product you bought and installed on your own vehicle as The Commodore has done, but since it is now officilaly in competition with our other vendors then some things need to change. No additional links to Vararam site or any other NSV (including forums acting as vendors). No direct contact info. If posted it will be trashed. If they want to become a supporter or convince a current vendor to handle their product (maybe by now one of the tuners catering to this is doing so) then that changes everything.
matthewo 03-31-2009, 08:29 PM got my vararam installed today. i get a little bit more sideways on the 1-2 upshift now. i have TM set at 100% Superchips value. nailed it on the highway and it really made some noise.
my radiator is very well suported with just the intake installed. they did a good job. everything fit very well and snug.

Question- for those of us not quite understanding the rules or accidentally violating them, why not just xxxxx out the information in violation yet still allow threads to continue?
There are many of us not looking to insult supporting vendors, but perhaps doing so out of pure accident. ????
Grrr8_G8_GT 04-01-2009, 06:54 PM I got my G8 Ram-AIR V by VaraRam in the mail today. Stoked! Has anybody out there slapped one of these on yet... I'd like to know if there are any potential problems I should be aware of, or is it as easy as it sounds in the instruction booklet?
Thanks in advance.
Eric_GT 04-01-2009, 07:08 PM Do a google search on vararam g8 and you will find tons that has been reported over the past 2 weeks time.
Very high praise across the board.
I actually went back to the Vararam bandwagon after falling off for a couple days. lol
BlackGT5 04-01-2009, 09:24 PM Good feedback. I have been looking at the Vararam myself. Thanks.
