Hello all,

Just purchased a beautiful black '08 Pontiac G8 GT, #658. Maybe I've just been living in a cave, but Pontiac did a poor job marketing this car..... Can't believe I almost bought a '08 Charger R/T.... :wall:

Only two things I don't like about the car.. The retro 80's graphics for the oil and volt meter. And the brilliant idea of swapping a spare tire for a can of fix a flat and a air compressor......

But all's good, my baby is tucked safely in my driveway!

Looking forward to learning allot from everyone.

Most sports cars have this exact same feature (as well as the high end sports cars). This was also done to help get the 50/50 weight ratio on the vehicle. I don't think it's a bad trade-off at all.

oh... and congratulations. :D

I thought the same thing about the tire ,but the dealership said thats the way every car is going these days!!!!!.I got the magnetic grey ,which i love first wanted the orange but after the fushion orange g 6 gt i decided a change was good as orange draws too much attention from the police!!!!.I have totally fallen for this car !!!!and what makes it special ,I am the only one in this county to have it.

Being the only one in your county to have one is the best part of all!

The quiet exhaust doesn't bug me too much, just makes it that much more of a sleeper!

Was going down a 4 lane road and a couple kids in a Rice Burner came hauling butt up behind me and went to pass me. 3/4 of the way into the peddle and there mouths just dropped :gears:

I also love my interior! Love the Black and Red seats!

Poor job of marketing? Hell, they just started selling the car two weeks ago, marketing is finally starting to get into full swing.

I think its cool that people don't know what the hell a G8 is. I have been geting interesting responses in parking lots and on the streets. People are breaking there necks to get a look at this thing and everyone is in love with it.

If you think GM did a poor job marketing/advertising the G8 go back and see if you can find anything for the Trailblazer SS. Now that was poor marketing.

PMD G8,
I see you removed your engine cover. Did you remove it to hear the engine better? Did it work?

I remember them going crazy with the G8 for the Sugar Bowl (I think it was) and Times Square on New Year's Eve. I also see a lot of ads online. What I didn't like was how early it was. I understand getting people excited for your product in advance so they can buy it as soon as it's on sale, but a few MONTHS? Seemed too early.

Did you take the engine cover off or is that stock?

I like the fact that not a lot of people know what the G8 is. For the past week, at least 1 person has asked what it was. A guy in a black mustang gt almost rear ended the lady in front of him because he was checking out my car instead of paying attention to the road!

But what do you do when a tire gets a sidewall puncture?

The area that would usually house the tire! That's the compressor!

Oh and I am jealous! :bomb:That is the exact car I just ordered! I am getting an '09 but it's the same...

There is, I just took it off for picture purposes. As far as engine noise, having it off doesn't make any difference.

The engine cover just holds heat. People have been removing them from the supercharged 3800 engines for years to allow more airflow across the supercharger/intake manifold. And if the G8 has removable hood inserts like the GTO, deleting them will help engine cooling that much more.

I noticed there wasn't a strut tower brace. Interesting.

That's the problem with living in Detroit, you see everything on the road even before it's out. I still think a lot of people won't know what it is...especially after I take off all the badges.

That's why I'm looking forward for mine to get here. Not one soul is going to know what this car is.
