: Vararam and the average question...

Hey everyone! Does anybody know the phone number for Vararam? I called the 1-800 number on the website and it says "the phone number you have dialed is no longer in service"... I need to get a hold of these fellas! PS: Does the vararam require any modification to the car to install? Looking underneath the hood, there isnt any room "infront" of the radiator where this thing supposedly pulls air from.

did you buy a vararam?? There is instructions with it... yes the top raditor mounts must be removed to tilt the raditor back. All G8s are the same so it WILL work on your car.

However our OTR kit will actually remount the radiator, Vararam's kit does not so the radiator will flop around.

If a little radiator movement is too much, it would not be to hard to secure it.

The Radiator does not flop around like Mike @ New Era is saying. I've had it on my car for over 8000 miles and have never had any kind of problems. The only thing I noticed is that its better than any other intake out there.

VM posted one hp difference between VaraRam and NEW OTR. There was a post earlier of someone who istalled the vararam that it flopped around.(Vararam Issues) They may have fixed that by now and Mike is only showing what a vararm customer had already posted. He didn't just make it up, obviously not all have done that and yours is fine as are many others. I personally like the look of the NEP OTR and many like the Vararam. There will be critics of both systems and thats fine also.

The one who had that flopping problem did not have an L76. IIRC he swapped in a LS3 and stroked it to 427. So he has far from a stock car. Just throwing that out there.

Actually the one that was flopping around was installed incorrectly. I wasn't calling Mike out, don't want anyone to take it the wrong way, just letting people know that the video is not the whole story and Mike should know that. Notice the photo below. The wires are supposed to be installed on top of the tab and he had it below the intake. So the intake was not allowed to fall into place like it's supposed to.

From what I heard that video was an exception to the norm. Something was off with his set up- install or motor mod. I will know how it is after my install tomorrow.

Also remember, the radiator as it is mounted from factory actually has some free play in it. Not as much as in the video, but it is not solidly mounted.

Personally, I feel the Orssom is the best looking intake out there. But overall, feel the V is the best for the buck right now. Is part of that because it is new= YES.

I do seem to rememeber quite a few New Era and Volant threads in here in the past couple months' time. Heck, when I was first looking at the G8 all there was were Roto-fab threads. lol

It is mainly just about the excitement of newness. ;)

I'm sure you OTR kit is great, but when the Vararam is properly installed, which is NOT hard to do, the radiator doesn't budge.

Mine is solid as a rock.

Vararam here. No flopping with my radiator. I keep seeing that tired ass video posted by some folks. I figured NEP was above that.

There is a group buy still going on at the "other" forums.
