Seats look like improved GTO seats. Doesn't look like they changed the center gauges. The brakes look HUGE!

M6 and LS3, didn't read any word on price but $40K may be worth the price after all.....

Very nice pics. Thank you.

Do we know yet if the wheels are cast or forged? I'm not a big fan of them, but if they are forged the extra strength and the weight savings may be enough for me to start to like them - I can get them painted a flat black or something to make them grow on me appearance-wise I guess.

Does everyone agree that this HAS to be lower than what they will come from the factory? That (non-existent) wheel gap is perfect, but I doubt it comes that way.

Can't GM use someone other than a convicted felon to promote their car.

Looks good though I can't wait till this comes out.

No price yet? :(

Is this a typo? "The standard Hydra-Matic six-speed 6L80 automatic transmission". Isn't it 6L90?

Are they not all 80's?

Oh crud, I guess they are. I thought I heard they were 90s, the same 90s that were going to also go into the 550hp CTS-V. Well, now I'm even more paranoid about power upgrades and warranties. :bomb:

Well, they're wanting to target the 300/Charger R/T segment price wise. I can't tell you the last time I saw someone driving a 300 that didn't look like a convicted felon.:D

Doesn't look like they changed the center gauges.

You can't see the gauges in these pictures, they're not lit up.
That orange color is amazing looking in the pictures.
I love the seats, the low stance, wheels, and the third pedal!

I think he means the center stack, not the gauges.

I like it more than I thought. The seats look perfect, brakes are huge, the car is lower but ridiculously low. A good all around car for $39995, my guess.

Guess we have to wait for a forum member to get to crawl around inside to know what has been upgraded there. Other than better quality seats, whats new and better........and worth the extra $$? Off the shelf engine, suspension, transmission and brakes can't add a whole heck of a lot to the price above the equipment on a GT. To quote an old axiom with regards to the interior, WHERE'S THE BEEF?. :dunno:

Thanks, but same as first post top of thread! Still looking for good interior shots and some info, printed type, on what its got in there! The other recent GXP sedans have had all the luxo items included, i.e.; Homelink, HUD, twelve position memory seats, and exterior heated mirrors, self-leveling suspension and antenna in glass. We getting that with the running gear upgrades? Or just the gofast, stopfast, cornerfast stuff? Those of us trying to make an informed decision on which model to buy would like to know!:dunno:

Do not like the flat black idea.

Nope, do not like it lowered.

Also, don't believe everything autoblog says. The rims on the GXP are a different design than the HSV rims that were on the concept.

And how nice of 50 to wear his gang colors while on stage.

from wikipedia
"The Northern Territory was founded in 1863 as part of the Province of South Australia. Western Australia was also founded as a free colony, but later accepted transported convicts due to an acute labour shortage. The transportation of convicts to Australia was phased out between 1840 and 1868."

Interior amenities and comfort:

The G8 GXP’s interior is driver-oriented with aesthetic and tactile details like instruments with a sporty appearance that match the car’s performance. Interior materials consist of satin and chrome trim and high-quality textured materials throughout. The instrument cluster glows with crisp, white light on the primary instruments. Pontiac’s signature red lighting illuminates the rest of the instrument panel cluster.
Standard comfort and convenience amenities include:

Highly bolstered two-tone sport seats with color-coordinated gauge cluster and GXP embroidery
Leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear shifter
Power-adjustable front seats
Fog lamps
Alloy sport pedals
A 230-watt Blaupunkt audio system
XM Satellite Radio
The seats offer firm support to hold occupants in place during aggressive cornering. The standard heated leather seats were designed to deliver excellent comfort during long drives. They are available in Ebony or an Ebony/Red two-tone.

With the exception of the seats, taken at face value, all the rest could be said of a 2009 G8 GT. We need specificsto make an intelligent choice between GT and GXP. I know its early in the process, but still WHERE'S THE BEEF?:stickpoke:

50 never did the gang thing. But he is no angel either.

This car is starting to grow on me. But the same tranny as the gt? And you put a vette engine in there...

Fast and sporty sure, but why didnt they put a lil more comfort into it! Although this car is physically replacing the GP, in spirit its replacing the bonneville, since both are full size cars. The bonneville has luxuries like seat memory, an advanced driver info center, HUD, and more. As i recall the G8 is supposed to be the same type of car, only difference should be the RWD drivetrain.:nonono::nono:

I am glad that they kept the digital screen in the middle instead of using analog gauges. As i said above, this is a powerful sporty(put the Y at the end) sedan with an anti-luxury appearance but with luxury options. This isnt a nissan Z, mitsu 3000GT, or anything similiar. If i want a car with analog gauges i would get a 2 door sportscar.

Looks like a challenger or a pretender to the throne of the SRT8 LX bodies. This should make for an impressive showdown once the car hits the market.

This car was developed as a Holden, not a US market Pontiac, so the comfort/convenience features reflect what Holden created for their own needs.

i heard the GXP will be the only model that offers a manual tranny. has anyone heard the same thing? it'll really be waist to build such an awesome vehicle with only a limited number of sticks.

The realistic GXP competitor may be the SRT Versions of the 300 etc of Chrysler but GM has stated performance wise they went after the M5. I really like the GXP and will probably buy one but I will pay close attention to the value versus the GT. The reason it may push 40k is the gas guzzler tax (1800 bucks) that it will most likely be hit with. I say this based upon a couple of things I have read but I haven't seen any final word on if it will actually happen. I suspect that the value will still be there but as stated by an earlier post stated many of the improvements I want are in the 09 GT so if it comes down to better brakes and 40hp it will have to be within 3-4k (including the tax) of the GT in my humble opinion. I would not be surprised if they do make it priced at about 36k but I am certain that they will stay below 40k so they can continue to argue value.

The use of 50 cent is great evidence that GM has a horrible marketing firm. 50 cent fans will not be buying any of those three cars in terms of core customers. GM's firm takes a one size fits all approach so because 50 helped make the 300 a hit they think the same will happen with a variety of Pontiac's. The 300 was a hit with 50's demographic because it looks a bit like a Bentley, the G8, Solstace Coupe and G8 pickup will stand on their performance and value. The demographic is probably 30-45 not 20 year olds.

As far as manual transmissions go the reason there are so few is found in the cost advantage of making cars more similar. Even with the Vette they don't even have a 50/50 mix of manual transmissions in a good year. For the G8 I would say the M6 may have 25% of the mix in the GXP, perhaps more in the initial sales for enthusiasts but by limiting it to a certain vehicle it becomes a better proposition for GM. They get to force those who are enthusiastic and most likely to pay for the enthusiasim to the high end models.
