Haven't done any haggling just yet. Just wondering if they will come down off the sticker price since GM is already giving 3000 back. I also get about 1000 military discount.

Thanks.

Southpoint in Austin. I can get you 27,750 If not less.

Mine was 34,200 otd but this included Taxes and 6K in negative equity.
Let me know, they are begging me to bring them business.

Here is the strategy that I used to buy my GXP with M6 and roof for $35K against a sticker of $41590 (and I didn't have any military discount or GM points to cash in.)

Go to edmunds.com or another online website and go through the process of getting an online quote.

Be prepared for a lot of phone calls. Remember that you are in control and in this market the buyer calls the shots. Do not let a dealer put you in a weak position. YOU are in control. If you can't get the deal you want, you walk.

The forum is your friend and if you spend a few minutes searching here you will find the most smoking prices that people have paid for the exact car you are looking for. When you find that, print it out.

The half hour I spent on this board searching for comp pricing saved me literally thousands of dollars.

Tell the folks that call you back that this is the deal that you want and can they do better than that. Some may not be able to, but others will.

Make your deal. If you are concerned about negotiating with the dealers, give me a PM. I love to do this and am in San Antonio. You just need to remember that cars are not selling in this economy and if you are buying that a dealer should be ecstatic about having your business.

If Austin dealerships not too far... Covert Pontiac on Research... ask for Damian. He hooked me up with mine. However, I actually negotiated the price down with the Internet Manager, Kimberly Covert (family owned).

If you do, PM me... I'll give you my name. I will try to get a free oil change out of Damian for the referral.

FYI... I got mine on March 30 and got all the rebates. Had to be a credit union member. Even let me buy it all on a credit card but I had to cover the 3% fee.

They still have a good selection, 22 according to their website inventory, including a sport red GXP I really liked. They have primarily premiums, only had one cloth GT when I was there.

I tried Southpoint, got a really good offer, not as good as Covert...however Southpoint internet sales manager got a little rude with me during the process. Southpoint has a bit of a negative reputation.

BTW... of all the models they had when I was there, they had quite a few early '09s, Oct/Nov inspection stickers, many were transfers from a DFW dealership. Those are easier to negotiate down in price. There was a white one that had a few paint issues, and a Stryker Blue with 350 miles they are really interested in letting go. They had one or two models for every color option. This is at Covert.

I'm in Louisiana, but my sticker was $34,090 and I got quoted $27,000 over the phone before I even went to the dealership. This isn't with a military discount either. So you should get $7,000 off with no problem. If not, then walk, cause someone can give you $7,000 if I can get it over the phone. Good luck.

Not that car, I've been out of town since I bought it, I just got back last night. The car has been in the garage.

Ahhhh :)

If you opt to mod it, any thoughts on a reputable, experienced shop local? I've been out of the V8 mod world for about 14 years, only know the Honda shops.

I might recommend South Texas Performance.

It's a new place that opened up recently. A couple guys from Murillo's work at STP now.

One of my best friends is a rep for STP on the local Mustang forum, and he takes his immaculate TT '03 Cobra there.

I can get more info later, while I'm not at work. ;)

Cook, thanks, but I'm looking for something closer to home, Austin. I'm actually north of Austin. I should have been clear on my location.

Yep... they seem to compete very closely with Covert, just didn't like the internet manager's attitude. Kim Covert was very helpful. I wonder if she's hot :gr_devil:
