: kill etiquette?

The other night i was on the way home from the GFs house and i was just cruising along at 75... i passed this A6 and as soon as i got to his bumper he floored it and tried to get me to race him...

i ignored the first 2 of his attempts, because my car only had 350 miles on it at that point (im up to 600 now), and didnt wana do anything to mess up the car during the break in (knowing my luck id do something to kill the thing).

Anyway the third time i said what the hell and just rolled onto the throttle, almost all the way down, and walked away from him.... at 130 i let off and he went blowing by me, and i didnt bother to follow..

I dont consider it a kill, nor being killed because i wasnt really trying. But heres the confusing part - as he pulled into a turning lane to make a left, he put the flashers on... which im not quite sure what it means... Does he think i was trying? or was it just a "that was fun"?

That means you just raced a ricer.

Typical Ricer fly by.

He put on his flashers 'cause he cooked something (maybe his turbo, maybe a rod) and needed help by the side of the road. Ricers don't drive German.

It all depends. I've seen it used both ways. Sometimes people will hit the flashers to announce they've won. Sometimes they hit them for a "that was fun". Sometimes they'll hit them to indicate they're ready to start a race. It's all sort of a context thing.

I've never understood that whole flyby thing. IMO, if I was losing a race, I'd just quit mashing the gas since realistically, you don't reel in a car from a roll that put a car or more on you. At that point you're just wasting gas and energy. That said, i'm the same way when I win, once I've pulled a car or two I stop accelerating. I don't really consider it a ricer flyby if they fly by you immediately after you shut down, that's just them either not realizing or being too pumped up or something. A real ricer flyby is like if you get into a turn lane or something after the race (have most definitely exited the racing area) and then they fly by you full tilt.

I'd say he was commending you on throwing the nazi in the oven, and saying "that was fun". Ricers use it to say they won.
