San Antonio here. You may hop over to the ls1gto board and ask them about tuners in the Austin area. I seem to recall there being one in that neck of the woods that was used with success to tune the GTO.

Not really, sorry. I used Motorsport Tech in Houston for my engine work on my 06 Goat. Now I believe they are Icon Motorsports. My GXP is stock and so I like Hewlett Chev for warranty work. Service advisor Shann.

I just drove by Hewlett this morning. Noticed they do Chevy, Buick, GMC, but not Pontiac. Maxwell's right down the street?

Have you used Nyle Maxwell's? Why are you using Hewlett?

I have always taken my Chevy's to Hewlett and I am comfortable with them. They said they could work on my Pontiac too. I am not a fan of Maxwell. They never tried very hard to earn my car purchase dollars and my Goat got a door ding there once when I took it in for warranty work.

Good to know. I did not get a good feel for Maxwell's parts department. Did you happen to ask the service folks at Hewlett what their position was on modding our GTs? I asked the service lady at Maxwell... she said CAI and catbacks ok... headers and tune not ok.

I have had many Corvette's over the years and they have been cool about warranty work regarding slight mods. I have had headers and CAI/aftermarket wheels etc. Dont expect them to warranty an exhaust leak at the aftermarket headers or a blown up motor with a twin turbo bolted on. I used to race my vettes and they would warranty the warped factory rotors that would ensue from my competition, thought that was pretty cool.

Well now... that's good to know. I've been putting off a catback due to battle in my mind betweenst Corsa and Borla. I really want headers, not just sound and a couple of hp's.

I wouldn't expect them to warranty an exhaust leak if I installed headers :wink2:

The service manager at covert is really awsome! He knows I am going turbo and said to bring the car to him for warranty work!! I am new to the area so we should all get together sometime. My car will still be a month or so out but I can show up in the truck.

North San Antonio for the last 3 years, but in Austin for the 8 year prior to that.

Had an '04 Quicksilver M6 GTO and have a '69 GTO, but looking for a G8 GT now.

Red McComb's Superior has a Silver M6 GXP but lied to me (claimed they were mis-informed) about the $2500 loyalty rebate so I checked with Cavender in North SA on an idetical model yesterday - $36K + TT&L. Great deal, ecspecially since inventory is drying up fast.

Still on the fence, however.

FYI... World Car, Gunn Pointiac, and Superior all the the "Dear John" letter from GM.
Any speculation on how inventory will be in the next few months or what incentives will be on Gt or GXP's?

Gunn and Superior are surprising! But wasn't Superior a Pontiac-only store? If so, that makes sense.....

Pretty sure that is now the Red McCombs Superior store. It is on 410 a bit west of I 10. Crappy sales and service in my experience but you can get a good price from them if you can stomach the low rent sales experience.

I agree that inventory is drying up fast and if you want one, I would take a good deal now and enjoy the car vs. waiting to save another $500-1,000 and risk not getting one at all.

I had an 04 M6 GTO and traded that to Cavender for an 09.5 SRM M6 GXP with roof. It is a fantastic car and better than the GTO in every way (and I loved the GTO!)

In mid-March I paid $35K + TTL OTD for the car above. Didn't have any special supplier, employee or GM points. Financed through the credit union vs. the 0%. They gave me 12K for the GTO with 33K miles on it which reduced my cash out.

Nice deal! I agree on it being better than the GTO.. GTO was great, but this is far and away a better engineered car.

I test drove a silver GT Sport today (no roof - more headroom) and, to be honest, would work fine for my current needs. I do like the resale-value retaining status of the limited production GXP..

Still on the fence. We'll see within a few days.

I know this is an old thread but Im in south austin and if any of you guys need any work done on your cars, Im pretty handy with a wrench. I do cam installs, transmission work, etc, and I dont like to do much tuning but have connections for that too.

Anybody go to any of the car meets? You may know me, I used to lurk around the races in my pewter ecsb Z71 with a stroker motor on nitrous. Or my buddy with a black rcsb Z71 that I built a heads and cam 5.3 for.
