: Got my G8 v6
RobbRock 03-21-2008, 11:31 AM Hey guys just got my G8 v6 I am very happy with it I was driving a 2007 sierra denali and the gas was killing me. This car looks great great and performs great I know people are gonna give me a hard time because i didnt get the v8 but im really waiting for the camaro so I wanna feel the power when I get it.
G8>550i 03-21-2008, 01:22 PM the suspension is the same in either car. Enjoy!
r.penguin@comcast.net 03-21-2008, 02:42 PM I read that it was the same suspension tune for both.
4gasem 03-22-2008, 08:05 PM Yeah but I have to believe they went with a stiffer spring and maybe a larger sway bar up front to compensate for the engine weight...??? Not that that would change the handling... Just keep it the same...
Congrats! A car that does 0-60 in 7 seconds is still pretty damn fast IMO!

No shame in getting a V6. When your car is payed for by the hecklers, then they can have a say in what you buy. A V6 G8 will be among the cars I will consider when I shop later this year, you are not alone.
When you get a chance, could you please post up your actual mileage, as well as where you drive, & your driving style?
KaiserM715 03-24-2008, 02:55 PM Hey guys just got my G8 v6
Can you post some under-hood shots? I have not seen any pics of the V6 engine itself.
Rue_G8GT 03-24-2008, 02:58 PM Congratulations!
Let's see some pics of the ride. :)
neelnug 03-24-2008, 03:12 PM Its not like you got a V6 Mustang or anything. The V6 is plenty of power and is a good engine. It is a great overall package. If I was't used to driving my GTO I would consider the v6.
Florida Poncho 03-24-2008, 06:25 PM Congrats on the V6. I went back and forth and ended up getting the V8 but could have gone the other way. Interested in seeing what we get on mileage.
Best
higgledy 03-24-2008, 06:54 PM Congratulations.
Did you notice any hesitation or slipping when pulling-out or when the transmission shifts from 1st to 2nd?
menace 03-24-2008, 07:04 PM Could it be like the ZF auto when it blips the revs up during gearchanges?

Sorry, I don't follow. What is ZF?
menace 03-24-2008, 10:17 PM ZF is a brand that makes gearbox's and diffs.
My friend has a BMW 3 Series that has a 5sp auto ZF and it blips through gearchanges.
Example:
1st pause's 2nd pause's 3rd etc. Sounds similar to a manual gearbox.
Red888 03-24-2008, 10:58 PM Congrats! Welcome to the Club! Like to see the pics and your thoughts. Enjoy!

How is a pause between shifts desirable in an automatic transmission? Sounds like BMW is creating a "feature" out of a deficiency in their automatic transmission.

Yeah i know what you mean but it only does this when cruising, not under heavy acceleration...

Does the transmission in the GT act this way too?
04m6gto 03-29-2008, 06:31 AM Congrats!! Without the V8 it is still a great handling, comfortable ride that looks good. And it's still has pep!!
menace 03-29-2008, 09:30 AM The V6 is nothing to be ashamed of. The manual V6 does 0-60 in 6.78 secs down under...

dgilmore 04-09-2008, 11:40 PM I got my V6 G8 yesterday. I'm an Aussie living in the US. its good to have an aussie made car. The car is very responsive. no need to do more than just touch the accelerator. Sound system is decent. I got the sound and comfort package and sunroof.
So far ive done 100M and got 21MPG driving has been a mixture of Highway and city . probably about 30-40 miles on highway. Im a pretty conservative driver.
I have only one wish and thats bluetooth support. Im sure something will get worked out there.

Where are the pics ? Not many people have posted Ignition photos, even less of the V6.
Where in Australia are you from ? Just visiting or permanent relocation ?
What did you drive in Australia ?
Sorry for all the questions.

Questions are ok. as a kid i lived in country Victoria, moved to Queensland as a teenager, lived in Toowoomba, Gold Coast and Brisbane. Moved to the US nearly 4 years ago. Im in Central Illinois. Wife is from here so its pretty permanent.
My first car was a WB Holden Panel Van. Though i learnt to drive in a Rodeo UTE. as well as a 1980 something commodore. I owned Mostly small cars a daewoo and a hyundai. mostly for the gas mileage. We took some pics in the showroom from when we took delivery. My wife left the camera at work. Ill be posting them tomorrow. when its nice out ill take some others and post them also.
J Wikoff 04-10-2008, 07:42 PM Central Illinois... if you bought it from Velde in Pekin, I'm mad. Aa salesman was supposed to call me when it came in so I could see the color. lol

I got it from Sam Leman in Eureka. I initially called them for it in December. they called me in February to place the order and it arrived on late Monday.

dgilmore 04-10-2008, 09:13 PM Nice cars, and trees, I really miss the gum trees. I planted a couple in my backyard. i hope they do ok with the cold in winter here. The seeds came from tassie. so hopefully they will do good.
CrazyShel14 09-05-2008, 10:24 AM I have a G8 I bought it brand new it had 10 miles on it. I got it right off the truck I loved it but from the time I got it it smelled like coolant, I finally took it in after about a month because they check engine light came on they checked it over and told me if was nothing and said there was no leaks. I took it back a week later for the same coolant smell and they looked again and found that there was a crack in the block and I was told there was a problem with the casting of the engine's so if any of you smell coolant you may want to get it checked out. so anyway they ordered me a new engine got it in and took of driving again i only got 5 miles when the smell was overwhelming i took it back and all the seals were leaking and check engine light came on the cams were bad and they had to order new ones it's been 3 weeks and I still don't have my car back they are still working to try and fix it over all i took the car back 4 times. So i don't get to enjoy my car like everyone else but still pay the payment and no good trying to call GM they keep telling me they can't do anything so i now have to get a lawyer. So if you have that smell go get it checked out but i will warn you it is going to be a long road
