i was on I95 and i saw a GSXR weaving in and out of traffic...i knew he was faster but i still decided to try and play around with him...finally got up next to him and he kept looking over...i punched it and we were going about 75. he also got down on it. i got a good half car jump. then he started slowly pulling on me and got to my front bumper and shifted. when he shifted he droped back and i started pulling. he got to my back door. we are at about 100 now and thats when he just pulled off me. it wasnt a very strong pull but he pasted and gave a thumbs up. . i know i won because he didnt know how to ride that thing to its full potential, but im still proud i stayed neck to neck and some what infront of a gsxr600 from 75 to 105. it was fun. he got off at the same exit and talked to me for a little bit. told me about his 5.0 that he built...but it wasn t really a kill...just a proud momment.

yeah a gixxer 600 is a 10 second bike, he shoulda pulled on you like you where standing still... it will go 60 in 1st gear, so him not knowing to down shift to 2nd is not somthing to be proud of IMO... but i am a biker as well so to each their own... are you gona rant about beating the guy in the viper whos eating a hamburger?

I've seen well ridden gixxer liters barely break 10s. Show me a stock 600 running 10s.

EDIT: looked at some YouTube stuff but can't tell if they're actually 600s and if they're stock, but there's def a few breakin 10s. Is it a myth they top out at 140?

Stock 600's post 2000 are capable of running mid/high 10's stock and trapping in the high 120's low 130's....most good riders will probably only be able to get them into the low 11's, a ****ty rider in the high 11's low 12's - how many G8's are running low 12's??

A 600 at a track w/ front end straps, DR's, and a gear swap can run low 10's

1000's are capable of high 9's low 10's stock and trap anywhere from low to high 140's

Main issue w/ litre bikes in the 1/4 is they want to wheely so badly it is pretty nerve wracking, the guys getting the best consistent time have extended swing arms, DR's, gear swaps, and tie downs - and that is nothing near a stock setup. The guys running the times mentioned above are skilled riders w/ balls of steel.

Now, because of this from a dig/stoplight race your more likely to get stomped by a 600 than a litre bike since they're less prone to flipping on ya, although they definately can, I've done it. From a higher speed roll race most guys aren't going to waste the effort to drop it down to 2nd gear going 60 mph just because of the jarring effect from the jump in revs...it isn't worth the abuse on the bike or the annoyance....plus the majority of riders aren't utlizing power/clutchless shifting when racing and lose momentum because these bikes are so high strung w/ such a wide power band a drop in revs can really slow you up.

A litre bike on the highway stock or otherwise will rape anything but the most exotic of exotics or extremely modded cars, and even then its not much of a contest until you get get way up in the triple digits where bikes get killed from drag.

I mess around with them sometimes for fun, but get nervous and back off when they start getting overconfident. I suppose passing them @ 180mph+ would be a qualified kill (only because they can't reach), LOL...

Stock top of the line 600's are all reaching 165 MPH.

My wifes old 06 could do over 165... at least by its wildly innacurate speedo

What Bostonf4$ said, you hit the nail on the head!

On a side note;

Many of the litter bikes can reach over 180 mph. Doesn't take too many mods with a ivan's tre and you are there. At least mine was still pulling hard at 177 up hill when I shut it down.

info was dead on. and i didnt say i out ran him fair and square...it was a roll at higher speeds. and the guy deffently didnt know how to ride it to its full potential. he did get me but it wasnt nearly what i was expecting. i had a 2006 CBR600r and could play with most stuff.. i went in thinking id get dusted like no tommorow. but instead he pulled off. anyways this wasnt a "my g8 can outrun streetbike" thread. it was a "played with a gsxr and held up pretty good due to rider fault". but nice info guys.

Mine will pass that, but not as fast.
