Anyone else notice the "rear aux input" in the menu of the GT radio?

Does that mean the stereo has another aux input?

I was thinking that could be used for either:

1. Garimin NUVI sound input (it has a headphone jack on mine) so that it plays through speakers for a) bluetooth, b) nav, c) MP3's

2. XM Radio

leaving the front Aux hookup for other things and so a wire is not hanging out the front of the radio.

I figure the rear aux input is for the dual head rest DVD player for the 2009 cars.

Any other ideas?

The upper level Garmins use an FM transmitter (built into the DC power cord) that uses "unused" FM frequencies to capture the nav, MP3, Bluetooth output for the radio speakers. I plan to assign one radio button for the Garmin. Check the amp (in the trunk) -- it may have an aux input back there.

I noticed the same thing on my radio menu. And I have the same questions as above...

You could do this with it also.

Check the amp (in the trunk)

The unit in the trunk doesnt appear to be an amp to me. Pretty sure it is OnStar related. maybe someone can tell by these...

That Contentinal part lists a ESN number just like a cell phone and the transmit power. I'm 99.99% sure thats part of the OnStar system.

Izzy, no, that is not the item that dovi took the picture of. The picture he took is not in the Oz version, you can see his item if you look in your first picture, you can just see it, it hangs below the rear deck between the two sub-woofers (closer to the left one) on the trailing edge of where the trunk starts (straight above the spare tire area) it is the onstar system.

Looks like those who have '08 G8s & want to retrofit OnStar just might get their wish.

'08's have OnStar, what they don't have is XM or Bluetooth.
