Any one installed a sunroof yet or have one?

The upper light/sunglass holder looks to be too big. Anyone know if a smaller one is offered on the sunroof cars? I could roll into dealer and order the part.

Nope, and I don't care for them. Just something else you have to worry about leaking down the road.

Last 5 vehicles have had sunroofs. Never had a leak. When my GT comes in I will let you know as it has a sunroof.

Why didn't you just buy a G8 with a factory installed sunroof? You do know its an option right?

Are you serious? You'd buy a $32k G8 and have Clyde and his Sawzall hack up the roof and install a JC Whitney sunroof???

If you want a sunroof spend the $900 and buy the factory option.

I just found out about the G8 2 weeks ago. As soon as I discovered a stealership had one, I took off, traded the 2004 2500HD and rolled the G8 GT. I didn't know about a sunroof option until I owned the car and looked at Edmunds.com and built to see what I was missing.

So a trip back to the dealers parts dept and we brought up all the parts. Yevot is right, no sunroof option on 888's and no revised overhead console. The sunroof installer has been doing them for 33 years and has a GREAT reputation. I went today and he inspected the car and is going to move the overhead console forward and then install the sun roof. He showed me the roof he will install in a Bentley?!?! (cool ride but looks like it weights as much as my 3/4 ton truck) and I am pleased.

Also bought a 2008 Mustang GT 5-speed the same day for the wife and gonna have a similar electric roof installed.

The Dyno Tune for the G8 happens on April 11th from 8:30am till at least 3:00 I am told. The guys are booked up, but can't wait!!

I had an aftermarket sunroof installed on my 2000 GTP and loved it. The glass actually retracted back into the headliner panel. Other GP owners were envy of the install since the factory sunroof opened to the top of the roof. Drove the car for 4 years and no issues.

The factory sunroof starts just behind where the sunglass holder is located. They replaced the flip down sunglass holder with a plastic cover that holds the sunroof switch. The outside of the factory sunroof is 17.5 inches and when open(into the roof not over) the opening is 13 inches.

I sent mine off to get a sunroof last week but when i found out they were going to put the same sunroof in my G8 that they put in mustangs and GTO's i got the car back and will wait until there is an aftermarket option that is the same size as the factory.

If you could get all of the details for the roof he is putting in for you, (dimensions, mfg, model, price) I would greatly appreciate it.

I agree Davefr. I wasn't even worried about having one of the First 888 but needed the sunroof....had to call about 8 dealers to find one with it though.

Its installed and awesome.
