Dealers can post whatever they want to - but they get no protection or support when they try to come on here and offer "deals". In the past I've let the members handle the dealers and usually they get the idea.

You will also get a free hot dog, or hamburger the cheese is extra though.

Guys the car is selling for MSRP. Sorry but I know alot of other dealerships who are selling the V6's for 500 dollars over MSRP and sold all three in one day. Now im sorry our dealership isnt outside of or in detroit. Im trying to market to prospective buyers in my area, not Michigan or somewhere in the holyland of GM where the miracle deals happen. In all honesty I have a laundry list of people coming this week who all will be willing to pay MSRP on the vehicle. Were family owned and operated for over 40 years and the guy who said this dealer will be less than satisfying doesnt know what he is talking about; last time I checked he doesn't work here. I am no fortune teller but the car will sell for 31,395, that I am sure of...

MSRP would be a relief. The dealers/scam artists in Vegas are marking up the V-6 with a $1995 Value added markup. Of course they have been sitting for a week now. They won't even let you test drive one!

I can’t believe some of you guys, what a bunch of whingers!

You are getting a great car at about $20000 US less than we pay in OZ and still aren’t satisfied. A genuine dealer offers you the list price after a bunch of you have complained about price gouging and you attack him, unbelievable!

With the exchange rate of the UD dollar down the toilet you are going to be in for a shock when the price rises considerably. Holden based the price on an exchange rate at around 83 cents to the OZ dollar but it has been running at around 93 cents, that’s not sustainable and your current price won’t last. We pay $56798 AUD plus dealer delivery and on roads for the G8 (our Commodore SSV) with sunroof and 19 inch wheels and we don’t get the heated seats and some other goodies that you get and we still think it’s better than anything else for the price.

I'm from the area and, other dealers were asking from 1k to 5k over sticker. If it wasn't for my current not so smart gmac smartbuy, I'd be in this exact vehicle right now. I took this car for a short test ride and, it was perfect. They offered me the car at msrp plus a $100 processing fee. Sounded pretty fair to me. Erick is a good guy to deal with.

Karlinoz, there are a number of wankers on here that would bitch if they were given the car free and got a bonus of $5000 US for gas. I bailed out for several weeks 'cause I got so sick of the whiners.

And, of course, they bitched about that too! :wink2:

#748 Grey G8 GT. And pleased as punch with the car. I was happy to pay MSRP.

I think the chronic bitchers are people who have no intention of ever buying a G8. Us folks that drive the car are happy as a pig in sh*t!

higgledy, I'd like to hear more about your experience at this dealer.. If this flayman guy is so quick to defend his employer's honor, I'd like to see the defense of your experience. That's what word of mouth is good for.

BTW, not a bad price, but when salesmen get so defensive, I automatically become suspicious..

And paying extra for cheese on a free burger...lolololololololloollolololololollolo Rofl.

That's just tacky.

BYOC

If the dealer wants I can send 10 bucks for a block of cheese slices for the event. I haven't made a charitable donation in a few months. Though I don't know whether it's a charity I'm giving to.

Appleton, I agree with you. You can't compare car prices there to the US without looking at all the other economic and social factors. Car prices are a negotiation and you'd be foolish to want to pay as much as possible. If Aussie prices are too high, maybe you all should get together and demand lower prices. Or import some more vehicles.

Yes, I make more than the average US wage but that doesn’t change the fact that you are getting the G8 at a bargain basement price which won’t last. Grab a bargain whilst it is still there! Holden have been working their bums off trying to open new markets to stay viable and on top of the OZ market as a local manufacturer.

I’m probably quite a bit older than you so I have been where you are now and had to wait until I could afford the car I wanted. BTW, I drive a 400+ horsepower HSV Clubsport based on the Commodore but I’ve had to put up with some very ordinary cars along the way.

I see from your profile that you have a couple years on me (just a couple) age tends to wise you up a bit and make decisions a little easier for us. Glad to see that you are enjoying the G8.

A tip about your tyres…

Don’t rotate your tyres from front to back on the G8. If you have a heavy accelerator foot like I do, let the rears wear out first and then replace the rears when they are worn out with the fronts and put new tyres on the front.

Kumho Ecsta Sport KU31 are quite good replacements and handle and wear very well, I’ve already got 40000kns out of my rears and they should get to 48000kms before they need replacing.

I waited till the end of 2004 to get my GTO. They took $9000 off of MSRP. And if I waited longer it could of been $14000 off of MSRP. Are the G8's going to do this too?

This has gotten alot more response since it blew up, All I can say is I gotta guy coming in tonite with a GXP Grand Prix looking to do a trade in for the G8. Not to say that it will sell, this business is never a sure thing. But I dont see dealers selling below MSRP until this production run of the first 888 is over. Again I do stand by our dealership, This weekend we will be offering free hotdogs and hamburgers and no I am not kidding like some may have thought (cheese will not be extra) 106.9 the eagle will be here doing a promo. Come on down see the dealership maybe the G8 will be here, who knows? HAPPY BUYING!!!

Not a snowflakes hope in hell!

My guess is that GM is subsidising the current price of the G8 to get back into the RWD performance market. We pay an extra $20,000 US for the car you are getting and shipping costs go on top of that ($57000AUD). If that’s not enough, the OZ dollar is way over the predicted exchange rate with the US.

What was the MSRP of the GTO?

The GTO was outdated in OZ when it was exported and was superseded shortly after it was exported so we didn’t expect it to be a huge success. It was developed on the shape of an already aging model and then the lead time developing the left hand drive, fuel tank and other issues held it up too long. On the other hand the G8 was designed from the beginning for both the OZ market and the US market (and others like the Middle East and China) so you are only a little behind in getting it after the initial release of the VE Commodore.

Does anyone know what the sales figures are for the G8, are they sitting in the showrooms or are they moving quickly?

You received around 5500 in the first shipment and more are on the way. GM are hoping for around 40,000 to sell per year.

Just look at the price of a Charger R/T and you will know that GM is giving a good deal on the G8. They did the same with the CTS when it first came out...the second generation CTS is about $5-6k more expensive similarly equiped.

There were 1800 cars on the firts boat. I believe that two more boats left shortly after that and should have delivered their load by now so just under 6000 cars should be in the US already, The 777 figure was probably a quote from the split between V6 and V8 models on the first boat. The first boat had about half and half.

The gto sold here for about the same price as the g8, low 30's. Look on ebay, there are about 10-12 g8's at msrp. Some not getting any bids. Some of the guys who bought after April 1st received gm loyalty of $1000.00. I paid full sticker on March 25th and missed out on the thou. No big deal, I wanted it and bought it. Karlinoz, that is a good looking blue on your car, is that a stock color. Looks like you have also lowered it, sets just right.

I haven't been here for a while so I'm guessing this forum is past its use by date, but just in case you visit again.....

Yes, the blue is a stock colour for the Clubsport and VZ Commodore. HSV are supplied body shells from Holden and use quite a lot of custom parts when they put a Clubsport together. It is stock standard for a HSV Clubsport but has different springs and shocks from the Commodore which make it quite a bit lower. It also uses the Corvette engine rather than the Commodre / G8 engine.

How is the G8 after having it for a few months? The cost of fuel is a pain but no pain no power!

Back in March when this was initially posted, MSRP was a pretty good deal. Now, especially on '08 models, lots of dealers seem to be forced into sweetening the deal a little bit. I actually received a call from one local dealer 3x one day trying to get me to come in.

Holden are working hard to improve fuel efficiency, expect a diesel in early 2010 with as much torque as my Clubsport but four cylinder economy. They are also working on LPG and hybrid. There are some radical plans like engine sut down when stopped and cylinder deactivation for the V6. Diesel is a great option because of the huge power increase especially at low revs and frugal fuel use.

Just traded my VZ Clubsport on a new HSV Clubsport R8 (the extra hot version of the Pontiac G8) 414 hp 9.5 inch rear alloys and an exhaust note that is unreal. $46215 US and that's with a $10500 US discount of the original price because it's last year's model. That's a graet deal in OZ and I'm happy to pay the price.

You guys in the US have been getting prices on the G8 that we could only dream about. Holden Aistralia can't be making anything on the deal and it can't last. If you want one get one soon, either the price will go up or the imports will stop.

Check this photo out, not mine but identical right down to the colour, pure driving pleasure. AP racing twin spot racing brakes front and rear and massive slotted disks. It stops quicker than an M5 BMW, zero to 60 in 4.95 seconds and it handles better than a G8.

Check this out.....
