Hey there guys, I just thought I pop a quick hello and introduce myself.

I'm from Australia and currently have an 08 model HSV clubsport R8 (6.2Ltr, LS3, 317kw) I've been searching the net for a few days now about my next proposed mod, which is the mid muffler and hotdog resonator delete. I stumbled across this forum which appears to have a wealth of information about what I'm wanting to do. For some reason, this mod doesn't appear to be very popular here in OZ. Most people just buy a catback and that's it.

The only mod I've done so far is change the stock rear mufflers to a xforce straight through muffler, which I guess is something similar to a magnaflow in design.

Here are few videos i've taken:

Welcome!! Love the sound of your exhaust! DO YOU NOTICE ANY DRONE WITH THE SETUP YOU HAVE NOW?

Hey there, there's only the slightest bit of drone at 110kph (approx 70ish mph) in 6th gear (manual transmission). For normal driving around the street, it's non existant. I'll post an in car video soon.

I believe if you have an auto, it will be much more susceptible to drone, due to the manner in which the transmission hold the revs.

Hi and welcome. That Xforce sounds sweeeeet! :p Would there be any performance benifits to the mid-muffler system? If not forget about it. You already have the sewwt sound! BTW how many people did you wake up shooting that video?:err:

From what I've read, it appears that the pipe leading upto the hot dog resonators is only 2" (i.e. section between the mid muffler and resonators). Surely if this section was replaced with straight 2.25" pipe it would be less restrictive in terms of backpressure? I'm mainly wanting to do the mod for sound rather than power. My other concern is whether or not a crossover of some sort will be required to balance out the exhaust turbulance?

PS: no people were woken up during the filming of the videos; i found an empty carpark to film in :)
