Do you mean Manual Mode? In Normal Drive and Sports Mode, the tranny should be doing all the shifting on its own.

If you did mean Manual Mode, put it back into drive or Sports Mode and leave it alone. That would be much quicker.

If you are using Manual for holding a gear though a corner, than that would make sense, but otherwise you are best served by letting the tranny handle all shifts.

Mine shifted at about 6200 in sport mode, and about 6500 in the manual mode, I have the Cortez 91 tune in it and I wonder if that is the difference, anyone know why the
diffeence in rpm's>>

I shift at around 2K in manual mode. There's enough low-end torque to move along very will without needing high RPM.

I was speaking in race mode, not driving normally or everyday driving!

It took me about a week before I figured that out too...regular drive mode is D, Sport is when you move it over the manual side, but don't actually manually shift; it will say "Sport" or S1, S2...etc on your computer. Then manual mode is activated once you actually start shifting manually and then you will see "Manual" and M1, M2...etc

Yes, its faster in sport because of higher shift points on the RPM band. I think it may also shift a little faster as well.

In S6 my rpms are little higher then if the car was in normal mode 6th gear. Has anybody else noticed that?

And in case you didn't know this:

If you're in a turn and in sport mode transmission setting and are holding steady on the gas (not coasting) the accelerometer (like what is also integrated into the ipod touch and iphone) that is integrated into the system detects the lateral g-forces and holds that gear so if you tromp it in that same turn it'll power through that gear instead of downshifting and potentially kicking the rear out from the harsh upshift/torque-change and potentially spinning you out. You can use this to do power-slides in a controlled environment... or simply hold the gear (without squealing the tires, like on a wide turn on the expressway for example) so when you need to get going again it's ready to go quick without having to shift out of 6th. It kills fuel mileage, but if you're driving in sport mode you're probably not as interested in getting 20+ MPG anyways! :slap:

Of course if you're trying to power-slide, you'd also need to hit that fun button directly in front of the shifter on the center console... :wink2: (ESP Mode disabled):driving:

If you check out this video:

and watch at exactly 11 seconds into it...

Or try this one:

and watch the whole thing... you'll get the idea.

Sport mode + Accelerometer + turn = holds the same gear for some real fun!!

Those two videos above are a prime example of the limited slip rear differential in concert with the sport mode same-gear acceleration to get that power slide going.

Try to do that same thing in normal "D" mode and it'll try to 'fix it for you' -- same thing if you turn back on ESP.
Quite impressive if you ask me. :drink:
On a more safe note, you can also simply use sport mode on a wide turn on the expressway at speed and then get back on it, and it doesn't shift, just powers through it.

Be safe out there guys!!

That second video is one of my favorites...I think I need some more instruction on doing this. I have tried, and I get some slide but not as much as I'd like. What else can you tell me?

Stock Shift points for both Drive and Sport are 6000 rpms. Most aftermarket tunes raise this usually 100-200 rpms.

I love the oncars video also. I want to drive like Emile. I was reading a drifter website that said practice this by intitally doing donuts in empty parking lots, preferably wet so you don't kill your tires and slides are easier to come by. I need to find a junker rwd to practice on, I think. I can imagine explaining that purchase to me wife.
