What's up fellas? I just got home from the GMC/Pontiac dealership a few hours ago and I gotta say I'm pretty floored. I went by the dealership to pick up some info on the GMC Acadia for my wife and when I was inside picking up a brochure I saw the new G8. Man that thing is bad!!!!! I hadn't even heard about the G8 until today, or at least paid attention to it. But now I have to say I'm hooked. I've had my eyes on the new Evo and Sti, but the idea of getting V8 power in a platform this clean is real nice. But I do have a few questions.

1. When will the manual version hit the dealerships?
2. I've read about the GXP version being released in 2009 with the 6.2 liter LS3, but is the current GT V8 version a LS3 also??
3. Is the Brembo brake upgrade available on any current GT versions or just the GXP?
4. What is the weight of the G8?

Going to try and help you catch up. Glad you see it caught your interest!

1: No word yet on the manual for the GT. The '09 doesn't look to have it as an option. Right now the only manual in sight for the G8 is the GXP, coming late this year.

2: The GXP will be getting the 6.2L LS3. The current GT has the L76 6.0L. Both are V8's.

3: The GT doesn't come with a Brembo option, though most reviewers and test drivers are impressed by the performance of the non-brembo brakes. I don't believe it will be an option in '09 either. Possibly dealer installed aftermarket.

4: the GT is right around 4k, something like 4096.

Any other questions, let us know! We'd love to see you in a G8!

manual is only an option so far on the gxp. which comes late this year. current motor is the ls2. brembo is only on gxp so far. i think the weight is 4096lbs or so,

That's a little heavier than I would like. The Sti weights in at 3356 and the Evo at 3546, but it's still definitely worth the drive. I'm sure the stout V8 can make up the weight difference, but I will HAVE to have a manual.

current motor is the ls2.

Actually, current motor is the L76, not the LS2.

OK, but you'll have to wait until at least September, and fork out close to $40K to get the 6M in the GXP. If your wife likes fast cars, and doesn't require an SUV/Crossover, this is one fine sedan!
