The Tire Rack (tirerack.com (http://www.tirerack.com)) needs a G8 to measure so they can get our available wheel and tire selections up on their web site.

If you are near South Bend, IN, and have a G8 that you wouldn't mind letting them use for measurements, give Roger a call at 888-541-1777 extension 627, or email him at roger@tirerack.com.

The sooner this happens the sooner there will be more aftermarket wheels available for the G8. :burnout:

That's just it - we won't know what they're offering until someone does this. Could be some of the BMW 5-series stuff will work, but until we get a G8 into their shop, we won't know for sure, and they won't put anything up on their site unless they know it fits.

I contacted them the other day and unless someone does this, it may be "four to six months" before they have any information up on the G8. Luckily, I am not getting mine till this fall so I can wait but for the rest of you, this could be a little upsetting.

There are some in SE Michigan, according to the dealer locator, but I'd assume you'd want something closer to Grand Rapids.

Tire rack typically also throws in a detail and some other "extras" and take pictures of your car to use on their web site as the sample car to show fitments.

Kind of a cool deal.

I have been searching the vehicle locator and none of the cars have the luxury package let alone the luxury and sport package. I have a couple cars I found off autotrader and hopefully one of those will work out. I am trying to find one before the weekend, if so first thing next week I will swing by tire rack.

Nice. Its good to see that they are going to get after this so quicly. It figures that with the demand for the car, the demand to customize it will be right behind. If you could ask specifically about these for me: Avarus AV3. When I get my G8 I want these rims.

Talked to Roger and it appears Ray made his appearance at Tire Rack today, as promised, and we will likely have some more info on our wheel/tire situation by the end of next week. :eek2:

Met Roger this morning after my G8 was measured. I am not able to post photos or discuss how they measure it.
After they were done on the rack measuring it, they took it to the wash rack and cleaned it up real good. They took it into a studio and photographed it for their web site.

Some of the info i wrote down is stuff most of you guys know already, but I'll post it for those that don't read all the threads.

Bolt circle is 5x120mm
Stud size is 14mm x 1.5mm pitch
Stud length is 26mm

I checked my mileage from North of Indy to South Bend.
Heavy wind from the Northwest driving 76 mph. I avg 19.9
Heading east on 94, I missed 80 because of construction, it increased to 20.4.
Driving at a slower speed, closer to 65 mph on 31S I was able to get the mileage increased to 21.9
There was a couple of minutes of "spirited driving".
This is DIC calculations.

I figured they would have tried a set of 3 series wheels on it for back spacing and clearance. Tim at RT tire and wheel is doing the same for me. He should have something back in the next couple of days. He was going to try and get the dealer there to let him use their g8 for test fit. He is going to try several bmw 3 series, I'm planning on a staggered set up with 9.5 rear and 8.5 up front. I'll let you know also, that will give a couple of outlets for people to use. I'll post some of the wheels he uses.

I'm sure they didn't try to just put on a set of wheels since they actually measured front and rear for tire and wheel clearance. The method they used to measure that will be very accurate.

So I have been doing A LOT of research and so far........ I can put 20x10 on the rear and 20x9 on the front......as long as they conform to the proper offset's. Am i right is assuming all of this?

Should work, however, the stock tire is only about 26.7 tall, with a 20 your definetly gonna end up with a really short sidewall. You could probably go up to an 1 taller without messing up the computer too much. It will mess with your speedo, I used an inch taller tire on my 300 and it was 4 mile per hour off, my speedo was showing 70, but, I was really running 74. I verified it with my gps.

i am deployed over sea's right now and got a black GT waiting for me at the dealer lot with a cover on it as we speak....and in my boredom i have a vendetta in finding some black rims and let me tell you its harder than you think....... any help from anyone will be greatly appreciated

Parent of a ANG medic. I think by the time you get stateside, Tire Rack should be able to offer you some wheels for your G8. I did see some awesome black rims in their showroom while i was there.

yea......i plan on doing the whole car black.....and finding all black rims is rougher than you think too. do you think since you brought yours in the already got the numbers for "john Q" wheel buyer?
