: Just bought the new "family" car!! Black G8 GT
'02 ws6 03-24-2008, 10:47 PM Long story short.......
My wife really wants a black G8 GT, but the local dealer only has a red one....for now. It arrived today, on the showroom floor @ 12pm, we were the first to look @ it. After some initial info/bargaining/negotiating the salesman went and persuaded the mgr to pull it out of the show room and let us drive the red one (#840 of 888). We were the first customers to drive it, even the salesman & other workers haven't even ridden in it. My wife didn't really like the red, so he tracked the black one on order and told us that it would arrive next friday. He dipped below MSRP, and we bartered him to throw in the tint and give it a full detail (better than the red one they have on the floor!) as per my request due to it being on a train most of the way.
Total cost for Panther Black G8 GT Premium/Sport Pkg. Onyx Black Leather w/ TTL and GMPP Extended 100k mile bumper to bumper ended up being $33,787.
I know some might frown upon the GMPP Warranty, but my wife drives 400-500 miles/wk, and will for quite some time so the factory 3yr/36k bumper to bumper will end fairly quickly.
vikings_70 03-24-2008, 10:54 PM Congrats on the new ride! Sounds like you did some nice work with your dealer, looks like a great deal! Get some pics when she gets in:thumbsup:
drob8 03-24-2008, 11:16 PM Congrats!!!
I personally don't frown on the GMPP, I did the same. I put on about 22,000 per year and I've got a 60 mos loan. The last thing I wanted to do was pay to repair the car and still pay to own it. I'm jealous that you got to negotiate a little bit. My dealer gave me "employee" pricing on the z-tec package (cause my kids trashed the carpet in my GP) and the warranty. I don't remember what I paid, but it was close to $35K
Ryan M 03-25-2008, 02:39 AM Nice deal!
I love how Black looks but its so hard to keep clean. Wash it and drive it for 3 minutes and its already dirty again... especially here in WI.
So if I do buy a new G8, or even the next car I buy I will try to avoid black... maybe a silver or white is in order.

x2..my TA is black and is dirty w/in 30-45 mins of cleaning/claybar/wax,etc.
I loved the red they had (not to mention it was an 888), but what the woman wants...is what the woman gets so black is the choice!
Rue_G8GT 03-25-2008, 12:27 PM Congrats man!

Cool wife that ASKS for a G8 GT in black. Mine wanted a Chrysler minivan <gagg> Finally after two months of hard work persuaded her to get a Buick Enclave, which is the coolest vehicle in that category. But the good part is that will leave the black G8 for me!

No problem. Hand her the lambs wool mitt and the hose ... daily!
Mine likes the red, fortunately. Mine was originally ordered as black, but the dealer messed up the color code when he tagged it. No problem, heck I'd drive a pink one if I could get one. :)
'02 ws6 03-25-2008, 07:35 PM ^I've already bought the california duster and quick detailer as a congratulatory present!

Congrats on the purchase, but do keep in mind that although the traditional 3/36 bumper to bumper is there you also get 5/100,000 powertrain warranty that includes roadside assistance. Corrosion rust-through is 6/100,000. Yes, you'll still be able to get a broken cupholder or failed radio replaced at 2 extra years down the road, but the extended may not be for everyone as the powertrain is the most susceptible to failures past 36,000 miles regardless of age.
VENOM 03-26-2008, 11:25 AM I told my girlfriend she is never allowed to buy a black car. I had a black car as my first car and it was the biggest PITA to keep clean. Then I had a silver camaro, and silver may be the greatest color ever because it shows no swirls and looks clean all the time. My last car was a red WS6 and the thing was incredible. You still saw swirl marks but red just jumps out at you. I want either white or red, although white can also be a PITA to keep clean.
Congrats on the car though! PICTURES!
DuBob 03-26-2008, 12:16 PM Good info, I was debating on the extended and I think I'll pass now.

I use Zymol wax on my black GT 888 never leaves swirls... Good stuff!
