: Good tint in the GTA?

I'm looking to have my GT tinted shortly so I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any tint places they were impressed with? I'm looking for somewhere that uses top quality film and does a really meticulous job.

I've had two of my previous vehicles tinted locally by a place called Pro Tint, they did a great job on my caddy but I wasn't impressed with their work on the other. Just considering other options since I intend on hanging onto the G8 for a bit and I don't want a crappy tint job.

Thanks,

Rob

Had a good experience with my previous car at Audio Heaven on West Beaver Creek in Markham/Richmond Hill. They were able to do the back window as one piece.

I'll be going back shortly to have my G8 done.

I'm interested to hear how AH does the install on the G8 and how much they charge.

The last tint job I had done was on my '94 Mustang and the shop cut 3 defrost lines on my back glass. I've sworn off tinting since then...but...I would like to have it done now on my GT for more privacy. Look forward to your review.

I dropped by Audio Heaven today. Since its my day off and im also looking to get my G8 tinted. An my tint guy i found out yesterday who was on holidays for a month cant get back into canada. So thanks to Mr Weather for the AH tip i went today. And the guy came out an looked at my car loved it said the G8 is a really sharp looking car. Its $220 any % tint life time warranty an they will remove the 3rd brake light to tint over it not around it. My car goes in this coming Wed.

I called around today to bunch of tint shops most quoted me $300 to the highest $370 crazy and would have to wait since most places were busy earliest i could get my car done was June 15th . Since i live in richmond hill AH isnt that far from me so i dropped by its a small shop but the guys there were very nice knew there **** and able to do it next Wed is a plus.

So ill update you guys on how it goes. Im also getting my 09 Mazda 3gt done there wed right after my G8GT is done.

Good job on hooking up with AH. I was very happy with the job they did on my last car. I just haven't gotten around to setting up the appointment yet for my new G8!

$220 seems reasonable. My last car had 35% all around so that's probably what I'll do again.

$220 sounds like a good deal.

Do you know what kind of tint they install?

I hear the 3M stuff is the best and there are alot of "cheap" varieties out there. If you just want to blacken the windows for privacy then any ole tint may do so long as it doesn't peel easily. The good 3M tint is also supposed to protect the sunlight better keeping the car a tad cooler than your less expensive tint product.

Getting mine done on Wednesday too (charcoal dyed, 35% sides and back). The owner (Jeff) laughed and said he was doing a G8 in the morning. I said I knew that because I recommended AH to the owner of that G8.

So that's back-to-back G8's for them! :D

Would love to read your thoughts after the install on both G8 installs at AH.

I am also interested in hearing about the installs from AH as well. I need to get mine done soon. Also see that AH does Ventureshield. Any experience with Ventureshield versus 3M for a clearbra?

Thats awesome bud. What time you book yours for?

My G8 goes in at 11am when they open. After my G8 is done my GFs Mazda 3 goes in.

Jeff asked me how i heard about them. I dunno your name so i just said from the G8 club/forum.

I'm scheduled to go in for 2pm. So I may or may not see your G8.

If Jeff asks again tell him a fellow with the same first name recommended his shop. :)

woodensticks: I don't have any experience with 3M tint but my last car was done by AH using the Solar Gard NR charcoal dyed material and it turned out real nice.

The tinting that I saw done at Superior Window Films/Auto-Edge in Oakville looked to be top notch. They were working on some very high end vehicles too. I am more than pleased with the paint film I had put on there, Joe and his team are real pros.

Not to hi-jack or ruffle any feathers but why the obsession with tinting? It's not like we live in Florida and have boiling temps. I have driven many vehicles with tint and find it a PITA to back them up into a parking spot in a dark garage which I often have to do for work. For me the factory tint in the glass is enough and with the way I keep my glass clean it looks dark enough anyways. If it's sunny I put on my driving Ray Bans. To each his own, just not a fan of dark tints.

I like the way window tint makes the car look.
& it keeps the car interior cooler during the summer months.

I got my tint done by Total Auto Glass & Sunroofs in southern Etobicoke.
They use Solar Gard window film tint too.

I had them put 35% on the front doors & 5% on the rear doors/window.

I had MASS Electronics do a 4-sensor back-up kit on my rear bumper.
It beeps (inside the car) the closer I get to something from about 6' to 1' away.

So between the side view mirrors & the back-up sensors...it isn't too bad backing-up :)

I had this all done by the dealer (out-sourced) before delivery of my car.
Also had them get done: 3M Clear Bra & Ventvisors put on my car.
I had it all priced into my purchase price of my car.

Can anyone that's had the tints installed at Audio Heaven comment on the job they did?

At $220 it sounds like a great deal. Just want some input before I make the call.

Mine turned out fine. There was a delay in getting my car back because the G8 ahead of mine needed some extra time. Jeff told me the owner wanted the rear window tint to cover the high brake light. Apparently it took a while to get the brake light cover off.
