Has anyone noticed the automatic transmission slipping or pausing or hesitating when pulling-out (normally) or when shifting from 1st to 2nd?

I notice slightly odd shifting when it is cold, goes away completely when it is warmed up though.

Yea I've noticed it to. It almost acts like a 'flat' spot with the engine when cool. It improves when things warm up, but never really goes away.

OK. Thank you. I was beginning to think it was just me.

Almost everytime in the sport or manual mode. It sucks. Automatic mode is just ok. The shifts should be firm and on time. I had the gm dealer scan it, but, no error codes came up and I about scared the **** out of him when it shifted from first to second, his head tried to hit the dash between shifts. Sucks

Well looks like there are some items to look forward to Pontiac addressing and making a little better for the 09 MY cars. I've seen more gripes about the transmission than anything else. followed by the oil battery center gauge.

Is there anybody working on a recalibration for the transmision? I would think that something could be done.

I'm still amazed at all the complaints myself.... I haven't noticed any of the complaints in my G8

Me either, mine shifts fine in any mode. My biggest problem is shifting from 1st to 2nd in manual mode before hitting the rev limiter... I have learned to keep it in sport if i just want to go fast in a straight line. I dont need to be slammed back in my seat and hear the tires chirp into 2nd when it shifts.

Drove a Red GT last week and it seemed fine. Short drive, left in full Auto.

Drove a white GT last night and it shifted just like a maunal with a slipping clutch. Long time to lock up at each shift. It had 45 miles on it. Worked fine in Sport mode.

I don't know what was up, but it didn't stop me from having my dealer tagging one for me today.

Sometimes in "normal" mode, I'll get an unexpected response from the engine when I goose it. But, in "Sport" mode, my car is money. No complaints here!

Has anyone noticed slip in the tranny when in normal "drive" on a slight decline and coasting about 45-50 mph? The tach sits at about 1k rpm and bounces down to ~800 and up to ~1200. I probably never would have noticed it but I go over a bridge in town about once a week and it is like a long hill. Once I crest the top and start coasting it does this. Feels a little like my AOD in my old 5.0 when I had cooked the converter...:dunno: Going to the dealer sometime before Friday to pick up my plates so I'll be talking to service dept then. Was just curious if anyone has had the same experience...

I've noticed this, but not everytime. I think the transmission is trying to sense the driving conditions. Seems like i read in the manual it does this to save brakes, but if you touch the gas at all and stop coasting, it upshifts, realizing you aren't wanting to slow down.

If you have a transmission issue then schedule a dealer visit for service bulletin 08150 http://www.g8board.com/forums/showpost.php?p=35610&postcount=1

Your individual vehicle may or may not be subject of the bulletin. And it is not a mandatory recall, just a service bulletin that can or should be performed during a service visit. Or not. If you tell your dealer not to tweak your car he won't but remember any bulletin like this is usually for the good of the car.

08150 is the ECM only. It has nothing to do with the TCM.

I had mine at the dealer on Monday for this and a couple other things. They said they didn't notice it, and there were no codes for the vehicle.

Yes, same here, usually in manual shift mode

i thin whoever doesnt notice it might be too used to GM shifting.. maybe not but there is no doubt that in any of them a TCM/or ecm tune will make it night and day and the ones that dont notice it being too bad will be shocked at the difference.

Mine is not too bad to me but when I try to puch it, it seems like you need to be perfect at shifting if you want to get teh most out of the performance.
