: Clicking noise when I touch the brake while in "parK" UncleBenny 05-11-2009, 08:10 AM Sounds like the shift lockout mechanism is going bad after less than two weeks of owning my GT. When the car is in park and I touch the brake I hear a click coming from where the shifter is, hasn't caused any problems as I can still shift into drive fine, but it is slightly annoying and I'm going to take it in this weekend. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm just hoping its quick enough to fix and I don't have to be without my G8 for longer than a day or so. steveua 05-11-2009, 10:29 AM I have noticed that as well. I figured it was just the G8's normal, noisy self. It's been that was for months, and has never gotten any worse. It's just loud. For the record, my Honda Minivan does the same thing, it's just a little less noticeable. JPEGXP 05-11-2009, 10:35 AM I think you can notice that noise in any automatic car. Its possible that it used to be quieter and I never noticed it, all I know now is that its pretty loud and I can feel something clunking around in there if my hand is on the shift knob. I figure it can't hurt to let someone check it out and see if any other G8's on the lot do it, if it really is a solenoid going bad I'd want to get it replaced before I can't shift out of park at all. phoenixitc 05-12-2009, 12:44 PM Yep.
